I have booked Billy and Vernon in to be neutered today. They go on MONDAY!

We never got vern done before because he was our only dog and so it was never a problem. But since we got Billy he has become a bit of a pain. Wherever Billy has a pee outside, vernon always pees over the top of it. I know hes marking. He never does it in the house.

Also I have been looking around at little girl chi's and i obviousley dont want any little 'accidents' happening.

I'm not to nervous at the moment but come sunday night and monday morning I think I will be in bits!!

Does anyone know if they will be very sore after the op? I dont know much about it tbh xx

When we had our daughters Newfie rescue fixed he had to be "calm" for a week or so. No running and jumping. We took him back after a week and the stitches were removed and he was fine. Apparently, when you neuter fully grown males if you don't keep them from running and jumping they will swell up pretty bad. Coarse, Axel is over 90 lbs now and that might make a difference.

Brody never had a bit of trouble after his neuter. He was fully awake at the vets office that afternoon and literally 'RAN' down the hall to see me. He acted like nothing had happened. I was all ready to baby him, give him pain medicine, etc. and he never needed any of it. Keeping him calm and quiet was the hardest part, he is a wild boy. He never bothered his incision either and his sutures were all internal, so nothing to remove later. It was extremely easy. I hope that your boys do as well!! :)

One of my boys, Isaac, is getting neutered Tuesday. I've already got 2 of my Chihuahuas neutered in the past. Isaac would have already had his done, but their was a waiting list at the vet's office for awhile. Since we've started breeding, we plan on only one intact male, and that's Rowdy.

They leave the scrotal sack and just take out the testicles. Actually, if it bothers you alot, you could get prosthetic testicles put in and then you couldn't even tell that they were removed! They are called "neuticals". Totally serious!! LOL!

The scrotum will just shrink up and shrivel away to nothing in a few months. No worries. But right afterward, it will look a little odd and empty, sort of like a deflated balloon at first.

When I got Tanner neutered he was extremely sore. He wouldn't even get up to greet me. It was heartbreaking having to put him through that. But with help from the pain pills and a few days rest he was up and running shortly after. So it might be the same with your boys.

well done on booking your boys in for neutering :)
i was a nervous wreck too when i booked Diefie in.
he was groggy afterwards but the pain meds worked well for him and he was bouncing around the next day. it was hard to keep him calm though, he was running around and jumping despite my best efforts.
he had a problem afterwards with an allergic reaction to his internal stitches and we had a bit of a fuss with it all. BUT that is a rare occurence and down to Diefie's body and not the operation.
try not to worry :)

It really depends on the dog.My nomo was a big baby lol.But Rascal and Harry had no problems. And my Nutz was sleepy the first day but after that he was fine. You will be neverse but they will be fine. They might be sore but just don't let them jump or anything for a couple days and they should be fine.
