A lady I work with that I really like and consider a friend feeds her dog Beneful. The dog has eight billion allergies, skin problems, and is overweight because he's freefed. But this lady LOVES her dog. And she is SO proud that she feeds him Beneful. She says her dog is her little angel that she is blessed to have him love.
I was wondering...is there a good way or an easy way to tell her that it's really a bad food? I am not saying she needs to feed a four or five or six star food...but for crying out loud...Beneful? with salt, sugar, crushed up indecipherable animal byproducts, and loads of DYE?
I just wish she could see that if she put him on something good for him, it might cut down in his allergies. We were over at her house around Christmas and Oakley tried to eat some of the food out of the dish and I scooped her up and told her no, lol, and this lady goes on to say "Oh, it's okay, it's really good for them! It's Beneful, it even implies beneficial and healthful in the name!"
Some dogs do well on anything. We've had that discussion here and I think that's a valid point, but her poor dog is miserably scratchy, unhealthy, and biting sores on itself its so itchy.
Normally, I don't care. I feed what I think is best for my dog and what works for them. But this is someone I care about who I think would be devastated if she knew what she was really feeding him...
