I can't believe they did this, poor little dog. The reason they were taken into custody was also ridiculous which makes it worse...

That was great they got an immediate response from the mayor, but still, so sad. There needs to be better policies in place for officers to follow when it comes to dogs. Sadly, as we see every day, there aren't.

When I read stories like this it breaks my heart for the animal and how it suffered before it died a needless death, and for the family that is now without it's beloved pet for no good reason. Just as much though, I read the comments that others left after the articles, and I agree with one that someone said...not only was it a shame and tragic, but it was dangerous! What was that police thinking to put consciously, actively put a dog on the side of the road?! Some other person or family could have come along, and it could have darted out and caused an accident and lives could have been lost. If an internal investigation shows this officer did this, he should have consequences.

I agree Lulu! A random dog near the expressway is beyond dangerous. Imagine someone would get hurt trying to get them. Its so sad.

I think its inhumane on the police officers behalf. You do not need to be an animal lover, just have some compassion. On the side of the road? Really? I am sure there are 2 sides to the story, glad the Mayor apologized. They should just have taken the dog to the Police Station or to the shelter and held it for at least a couple hours. The lack of basic human emotion in this is just saddening.
