Thumbs up Micro -Chip Your Fur-Baby

The dog involved is not a chi but it doesn't matter. Both of mine are chipped & registered with the company that the local area shelter & vets use.

When I adopted my Lucy the shelter had micro-chipped her I just needed to send in the form with my information. The cost was part of her adoption fee. Mia I had done at my vets office.

It's so inexpensive, too. If your vet wants a lot to do it, look around for some clinics. We love our little Piper already, but are convinced she was loved before she became a stray. Somewhere someone's heart is broken because they lost her. A chip would have taken her back into their arms. I just registered both on foundanimals.org/ as well as Home Again. It is for life and doesn't cost anything. Our vet checks for the chip annually to make sure it is still functioning properly.

PLEASE for the love of everything chip your dog. PLEASE.

It brings so many pets home.. and it is an easy, mostly painless procedure (like a vaccine) and provides protection for the life of your pet. I promise during the panic of having lost your pet it is so comforting to know that if they are picked up, they have a chip- so the shelter can bring them home safe.

Also use a collar and tags, and in many places, a license is required by the city- keep that on your dogs, and rabies as well. God forbid something happened. You could get a ticket or worse if stuff isn't kept up properly.

I used to be a dog license inspector many years ago. The fine for not having your dogs over the age of 4 months licensed was not cheap back then. So I am sure it costs a lot more now. Dog licensing is actually rabies control. Your pet must have a current rabies vaccine to get the license. The because the chip helps you get your pet back home your pet usually avoids having unnecessary shots if they are picked up by animal control.

Both of my chis are microchipped too. They were both chipped by their breeders as puppies, but if they hadn't, I would have gotten it done myself. With dog theft being so common (I keep hearing about chis getting stolen in london ) and dogs getting lost, I feel safer knowing they're chipped.

We keep absolutely everything up to date. Our dog's collars are full of tags, we have rabies, city tag, microchip tag, and normal name/phone number tags on all of them. It's obnoxious but I don't really mind- people do comment on how many there are, but because my dogs are so precious to me, I can't risk something awful happening to them.

I advise all of you to do the same because life can change in an instant and your baby could get lost or stolen or picked up by animal control and your best bet to see them again is to have everything covered.
