Default Pregnant Rescue (need help)

I have a chihuahua mix rescue, I am not sure of her age but she seems to be young about 2-3 years old, seems to have come from a home as she was spoiled but dirty. She is pregnant, I am not sure how far along but my vet estimated 4 weeks, nipples are long and her stomach is large and hard. She acts very oddly as she does not finish her meals, shes very clingy. I have never taken care of a pregnant dog so I am not sure if this is normal. My only question is does the fact that she was a stray for the first month of her pregnancy have a neg. affect on the puppies health? I know there isn't a yes or no answer but is there any hope of the puppies being okay even if her nutrition wasn't great or maybe even there? She does not finish her meals, shes pretty picky and although her stomach is large I feel her spine from touching her back and I see her hip bones but the belly seems to keep growing. My vet gave me liquid vitamins and told me to feed her boiled chicken and rice, no raw. I have but she eats only 1/2 of what I serve her all the other dogs try to munch down the plate. I also leave her kibble and she eats one kibble at a time, I want to feed her more but I cannot force her.

Even if she wasn't well fed at the beginning her puppies will be fine. Any nutritional deficiencies are made up from the mothers reserves, so it will be her health that ultimately suffers not theirs. It is later on in the pregnancy that her nutritional requirements go up, so you have rescued her in time.
If she has a belly full of pups, she will have a smaller appetite, so feed nutrient dense foods at small but frequent meals. You can feed a bitch raw throughout her pregnancy, but whatever you choose make sure it is good quality and nutrient dense. They can suffer from morning sickness at around 30 days, so that could be the issue with this girl.
Have you spoken to your vets about worming? Normally a bitch is wormed before mating, and then daily with a reduced dose after day 40. A heavy worm burden will be very detrimental to the pups.
Will she be staying with you to have the puppies? How exciting.

What a weight off my shoulders!!! I have not spoken about worming, I do have pyrantel ( I believe thats how its spelled). I believe thats gentle enough to give daily, she is about 5 pounds, small one. I am excited but also sad because I know I will be attached, especially being born in our home.

Well that takes a weight off my shoulders! The vet told me about using pyrantel (not sure if I spelled it correctly) but I believe it may be too early. I am dying to feed her raw, I am probably going to do it as she needs all the nutrients she can get. I am guessing she will be having the puppies here (which is exciting but nerve wrecking too). I contacted a couple rescues and one offered to take the puppies & momma but not pregnant momma. I have a birthday trip planned for the end of June which I am going to have to re schedule and I have family members begging for pups. To make matters worse I have another large breed rescue so we are a full house! I just know I am going to get attached :/ oh how complicated!! But I am excited, I cant wait to see her give birth. I have never seen a dog give birth.

Do you have any news yet? Of course, we must see pics of the pups when they come.

Yes, I will post pics as soon as she gives birth! We are so excited, she's a sweet girl. I already have a family waiting for 2 puppies. I am just crossing my fingers that they are born healthy and it's an easy delivery. I have no clue what I would do if she gives birth at night and has a difficult delivery. Next weekend I am having my husband build her a whelping box, I am thinking she will have the pups the last week of June.
