I was looking online for a fancy collar for Cuddles, since the one I bought on eBay hasn't been holding up as well as I was hoping. When I bought it, I didn't realize it wasn't made out of nylon but instead just some sort of thin fabric. I kept finding some really nice leather collars for a good price, but only a few of them would be small enough for her. I also wanted to buy her a new dress with a few extra dollars I have left, but if I bought her a new collar I wouldn't be able to.
When I stumbled upon an article on how to make my own collar out of a belt, I was really excited. I found a really nice belt that I planned to throw away, because the end was all bent out of shape. It was perfect, because it was small and had really cute flowers on it.
All I had to do was cut it down to her size and put a hole in the right place, so that I can buckle it. I also angled the edge on both sides. It came out GREAT and looks like a decent-quality collar. Now, I wish I hadn't thrown out so many belts in the last few years, because I didn't know what great collars you can turn them into.
It was also crazy how little time it took to make. It took at most five minutes. The hardest part was finding a belt that'd work well. I was going to actually going to go to the store to buy one, but then I find this one.
Here are some more pictures:
EDIT: I just got her ID tag on it. I hooked it up to the buckle. It looks great. I think I'm going to only keep her ID tag on it, since it's a lot cuter. I wish I hooked it up before I took the pictures, but I thought I was going to wait until tomorrow to do that.
I think I'm going to be making some more collars for the other dogs :P.
My next project I plan on is a dress. I'm also thinking about making her a bed out of an old sweater I have, not because I'm cheap but because she loves to lay on it so much (and chewed up part of it lol.) Maybe I'll make it big enough, so it can fit in her crate.
