Default Dandruff

Buddy Bear has never had any dandruff at all.
Today in the morning I put him on my bed (the dogs aren't allowed to be on my bed unless I allow them)
I then get up about 20 minutes later and pick up Buddy Bear. Where he was laying down he had left a lot of dog hair and dandruff. I had seen a bit of dandruff a couple days before but didn't realize he had so much.
I don't understand how a dog who never had any kind of skin or fur issues now have dandruff.
Could it be because hes about 6 or 7 ( I know this isn't old as some like till 15) getting "older"
I did buy dandruff soap at PetSmart about a month ago because it was on clearance.
Sunshine usually gets dandruff during winter.
So I will shower him with that shampoo
Wonder if he'd benefit from a skin and coat supplement...?

Give some coconut oil. Start slowly, 1/8th of a teaspoon for 4-5 days then slowly increase to no more than a teaspoon. Too fast, and they may have diarrhea. This may be in a hardened source, and I just put it in the microwave to get the oil.

I'll see about the coconut oil, I'm a bit afraid only because I personally haven't used coconut oil myself.
Maybe I'll try first giving him the supplement I bought for Jr which is for skin and coat.

I also know I shouldn't make a big deal over dandruff. But Buddy Bear was always the one who never had skin issues. It just took me by surprise this morning.

I used fish oil. It has more of the nutrients skin needs. Any oil would probably help, or a specific omega fatty acid supplement for dogs. Gobo got really dandruffy when I didn't have is raw diet balanced with OFAs. Adding fish oil cleared him right up, and he is on a good kibble now so I don't have to worry about that again.

I definitely have used fish oil for Jr.
But with him being so itchy (allergies) I never really knew if it helped any. But I could try it for Buddy Bear.
