Default brown staining

Hi everyone. I am wondering if there is anything I can do about Bonnie's brown staining from saliva? She licks her feet a lot. Not to the point of any irritation, but enough so the front paws and back ones too are deep brown, to light brown with this staining. She does NOT have any eye staining, or not enough to notice. This brown staining can be cleaned off to an extent, and sometimes it comes out. No thining of the hair. I have to pull it out, which doesn't seem to bother her. I have her on a 4-5 star food, which doesn't seem to make much difference. I have just added coconut oil back into the diet. I have had he on a grain free diet, but switched all the dogs to a 5 star food with grain. She is a white longhair with a few beige spots. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have seen videos of people with Maltese using contact solution to help remove the staining. If I remember correctly, she said it was the boric acid that was supposed to be the active ingredient that helps with the staining.

Why does she lick her paws?
Has she done it basically all her life?

Would you consider booties (dog shoes)
I wonder if that would help
I know it was recommended for Jr since he has allergies and walking in the grass made him worse. But at the end I figured it would be too stressful for Jr and he isn't daily walking in the front yard.

When you gave her grain free dog food did you notice her paws any lighter?

I know they have whitening shampoo. But don't think that be useful.
Maybe it'll just be an ongoing thing as she'll continue to lick her paws.

This is a very highly bred little girl. Breeder sent her to me at 17 weeks. (she is extremely shy; only comes to me when she doesn't feel well) She is tiny--4 lbs. She has licked her paws from day one. Mostly before she goes to sleep. She is/has had this staining for ever. When she goes to the groomer (every 8 weeks) the groomer washes her legs, and the staining is mostly very faded when she comes home. I haven't noticed any difference from the grain-free and the limited ingredient diet I am using now. My dogs are inside dogs, so allergies from grass etc are not an issue. I have a feeling she licks to comfort herself??

That is what it sounds like. Gobo licks his paws, the couch, or other fabric nearby when he is settling down sometimes. It is a soothing, repetitive motion I guess.
