Default BB Sizing

Okay, so here's Odie's BB. What do you think? Is it too big? I've sent the pics to Buddy Belts to see what they have to say about the size. Her girth is 12 1/2" and this is a size 3.

This is the part that concerns me. The part around her legs doesn't really touch them when she walks. Are they supposed to do this?

Yep, it looks too big to me.

It looks too big to me too - which is good to know since Toby and Odie have the same measurements.

Krystal aren't there any stores around you that sell BBs?
The problem is that there is a BIG different from the size 2 to the size 3. One problem could specially be the arm holes.
I have the same dilema with my pups, they would be a size 1 but the arm holes are a lot smaller.

This is why I chose not to keep our BB. If you can find the right sizing they are awesome! They quality is great, seems very safe with a correct fit, and so many beautiful choices. The size 1 fits Lexie and Gia fine as far as the arm holes and the straps. But it's just too bulky through the chest area. You can tell when they walk they try to walk kinda what I'd refer to as bow legged when they have it on. They do this to try to compensate for the bulk through their chest. Between the stretching of the one we chose, and the chest piece, I felt like it just wasn't the harness for us.

Krystal, there are the Puppia's, the SL, and some others that I've heard members mention. Since they don't make the two and a half I would just try some of the other harnesses. Or, you could try the size 2, it may work perfectly fine for Odie. It looks like the three is buckled on the very last hole and has gaping around the legs and around her chest. Maybe you can get BB to let you try the size 2 and exchange the 3.

When I saw the first pics, it is GORGEOUS! I have never seen such clear, up-close pics, and the BBs are really impressive (mine's in the mail, and now I'm excited). I did see in the pic of the view from the back what you are referring to. If you don't keep this one and the size 2 BB doesn't work, look at the gwlittle website at the scrappy choke free harnesses. They may size differently. They seem as soft, but they don't have near the variety. But they aren't as expensive.

GOOD NEWS! Buddy Belts emailed me back and they said that they do think it's too big and that she will fit a size 2, which will be more appropriate for her frame. They offered to send me a package to send it back to them and they'll exchange it for me, even though I purchased it from Pucci & Catana in Florida.

Thanks Ashley. I think that deep down I knew it was too big, I was just in denial I had spent so much money on something that doesn't fit perfectly. I'll let you know how the size 2 goes.

There aren't. Not one pet store here sells them, but there are some about a 4 hour drive away. Thankfully BB offered to exchange, so I think I'll try size 2 out.

Oh, I didn't know that you didn't end up keeping it. Yes, that's how Odie was walking with it on. She would keep shaking to get comfortable and I could tell that she wasn't, so we only used it a couple of times "naked". She does have a SL that I LOVE and fits her so well, so I think that will be our go-to naked harness. I might try a puppia in the winter to go over clothes. They are exchanging it for me, so we'll see how the size 2 goes!

They're SO pretty, especially with the crystals added. My husband hates them, but I think they're gorgeous too. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out if the size 2 doesn't work. Which BB did you order? Exciting!

Judging from how big the 3 is on her, I'm betting the 2 will be perfect. She appears to have the longer/taller slender build?

Yeah, I sent ours back. BB said I could try the size 1 in another style that doesn't stretch, but it wouldn't correct the thickness in the chest. :/
