Default Chico....Now

Little Chico has been thru a lot for the last 3-4 months... Xrays, Biospies, Cultures, Blood Tests... you name it and he probably has had the test....

It all started with him starting to itch and scratch and coughing bad... the skin would start as a reddish spot, then he would have little pimple-like sores that would 'pop' and be itchy spots that got bigger and bigger....he was almost continuously scratching... I started taking him to my regular VET, they would give him a shot and antibiotics....said it was an allergy... he would get better for a week, then back to the itchy/scratching...then he started also to lose weight.... this went on for a couple of months until one night he was SO restless, pacing on the bed, Scratching and not sleeping....I finally said 'enough', we got to figure this out... so I found a specialist and tests started on him..... I tried EVERYTHING, changing his food, washing soap, bedding, toys.... evne pulled up the carpets in the house and had hardwood floors installed(anything for my baby)....

We finally got a diagnose ...Pyoderma, a bacterial skin infection. he is now on a stronger antibiotic, was shaved to better access the sores, is bathed every 3 days with medicated soap, and has a medicated spray to help with the itching....and Benadryl

I must say he is getting better *finally*, although looking at him you might disagree... I dont know if the hair will grow back but he has been a true Trooper thru all this...

Poor Chico, he has been through a lot (you too) but it's good to hear that you found out what it was. The hair should grow back unless the hair follicles were damaged - scarring would cause damage but if theres no scars, he should be fine, it will take a while, as new hairs start off well underneath but hopefully soon enough you should see them peeping through.

thanks everyone for the well wishes.... he is at my feet right now wanting to play Fetch

my grandson came over last weekend, he has not seen Chico since all this started. First thing he says when he spots Chico is "Why does he look like a Blueberry Muffin?" (the spots do have a Bluish look to them)

LMAO
