***Vets visit and new Louisdog!💖***

Lola went to the vet today for her allergy visit and the doctor gave us some Apoquel to try! I also found out her teeth are due for a dental and she is going to lose 1 canine for sure that's already wiggling. My little doll probably won't have many teeth left after this dental and I'm worried about that. :(

She was so good for her visit, we went to see aunt Leslie after and picked up some goodies. She had a new dog food on her shelf called Wild Calling, which is comparable to Orijen so I'm excited to try it. They have quite a few single protein grain - free varieties for dogs with allergies including rabbit and kangaroo which I thought was awesome!! And she had new LD there too!! :)

On our way to the vet! Mojo came for moral support since she doesn't do well on the highway!

Mama, I think I hear the Dr. Coming!!

And I want dis one too pwease!!

Geez this shopping is taking too long, can I get a beef trachea or something?

These two have such a special bond together

Go away mom, we r getting sleepy! 😴
http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/...425_135234.jpg

We just got home and lola had her 1st dose of Apoquel, they say it usually works within the 1st 4 hours, I'm praying for great results!! 🙌

elaina 04-25-2015 10:11 PM

I hope the Apoquel will work good for Lola. Do you notice any difference after the 4 hours ? when do you go back again ? awww, sorry to hear about her teeth :-( . She will probably feel better though after her dental if there are some teeth that need to be pulled .

the new dog food sounds very interesting. if they have one that is all Duck or all Venison protein, I may consider it for Tootsie or for Minnie as a change from there Primal and S & C. Tootsie does best on Duck, and Minnie does best on Venison. Peyton and Ellie do fine with everything .

Awww, that is so sweet that Mojo and Lola have a special bond like that :love5:

I love all the WL and LD outfits !!! and of course I Love the Gucci carrier too !!!

Ellie Mae said to say hi and she is a twin to Lola . she has the same cupcake mon tank. now she wants the cupcake mon tee too and Minnie and Tootsie want the tank too.

Aww, your babies look beautiful as always. It's nice that big brother mojo is there for moral support. I think I'm going to take Lincoln with on Chloe's yearly exam. She shuts down completely. She shakes, pants and won't take treats. Anyway, is that normal that lola is loosing teeth? How old is she? I try to brush my babies teeth once a week but I wonder if that will happen to them when they get a bit older:(
Good luck on her dental :toothy4:

Hi Elaine! It's been 3.5 hours since her first dose and she's licking way less, I actually haven't seen her lick but bry said saw her lick briefly. He noticed a change in her when he got home from work, he was like "is lola ok? She's acting like a happy puppy!!" Music to my ears!
I'm praying to God she has some teeth left after this dental. She was due in August, right when my vet injured herself and I won't let anyone put her under due to her size.

It was weird taking just mojo and lola out today, made me reminisce of the old days when it was just the two of them! :)

Omgggg I love that pic of Ellie, I wanna steal her out of the screen and snuggle her. It was that pic that made me go check out the cupcake LD in the first place. Remember I held off from ordering when u and Lynda did? But I couldn't resist. And Sapphire was stunning in hers too! I am so pleased w the quality of these tees, very stretchy, longer than usual, and very lightweight.

I love my Gucci dog Carrier too. I was contemplating selling it since I bought the new diaper bag but after using it today, there is NO way I can part with it, it's just timeless! Do you ever use yours???

Ok so here is the food:

The top pic is there 3 higher protein varieties, I bought the one on the right (without lamb) bc I think lamb irritates Lola but I'm not sure.
Then there are 3 limited ingredient versions: beef or turkey or whitefish. Finally are the exotic proteins: kangaroo or bison or rabbit. These have less protein than the ones in the 1st pic. I emailed them asking for samples of the exotic ones, I can let u know if they have some. I think the exotics are kinda $$$ which I don't mind but I would rather try to see if they will all eat it first. I think I paid $20 for a 4lb bag today which is a lot more than the Fromm but it's supposed to be a better quality food. Leslie said the exotics are closer to $30 for a 4lb bag which is ok if they eat it. So far they are all 4 going nuts over the turkey samples Leslie gave us!!! 😍 💕 💋 🎉

Thank you dear!! Lola cannot do long car rides without him, he's like Xanax to her, lol. I think Lincoln may help Chloe relax!! Lola won't take treats either in public, she's a very private eater, haha.

We scheduled her dental for next Friday when I'm off of work. She usually gets a dental 1 to 2 times per year but since my vet injured her shoulder last August right when she was due, I held off bc I'm scared to let anyone else put her under. Lola has always had lots of issues, her teeth being one of them. She will absolutely not let me near her mouth ever. I can't even give her meds unless they're crushable in her food. She had her first dental when she was only 2 and had teeth pulled that time. I'm not sure how many she has left but I don't think very many. Small breeds are usually genetically predisposed to bad teeth but not all of them have bad teeth. My other 3 have pretty good teeth. Mojo is 6.5 years old and never had a dental. I brush their teeth and give them bullies and other chews to help clean their teeth. It's really great you brush Chloe and Lincoln's teeth weekly and that they let you! I hope your pups have good teeth! My vet said Lola's tongue may permanently stick out after this dental and I told her it will just give her more character!!

lulu'smom 04-26-2015 01:22 AM

Love the pics of Lola and Mojo. It's so great that Mojo is such a protective big bro!! Sounds like this medication may be helping--I sure hope so!! Keep us posted. Love Lola's outfits. :)

hi Z !
That is so good to hear that Lola is acting like a happy puppy . I hope you will continue to see improvement !!
Ellie says thank you . she wishes you really could snuggle her :love2:.
I agree that I love the quality of these tees. I wish I would of ordered the tee too now . I only got the tank , but at the next good sale I will get more cause Minnie and Tootsie want one too.
Glad to hear that your not selling your Gucci carrier. its so you and it would be sad if you sold it. I got the smallest size one , so my Gucci carrier would only be good for just Ellie and we haven't used it yet but i'm looking forward to it .
thanks for posting the info about the food. hmm. I was really hoping there's be one with either Duck or Venison protein ...

yes, let me know if they send you samples and If they do.. i'll message them for some so my girls can try them too... I know they will love it. they usually really love eating something new. its just that they ( just Minnie and Tootsie ) seem to do much better when only eating specific protiens ( Duck for Toots and Venison for Minnie ).

I hope LD makes more tees like these, I like them more than most of the other LD ones I have in terms of material and fit. Did you give in and order them for your girls yet?? I can't wait to see Ellie in her Gucci bag, she's gonna look so good in it!
I haven't heard back from the wild calling yet but my guys all love the one we just bought, even Lola, which is rare. I'm hoping the message me maybe tomorrow?? I was kinda surprised they didn't have duck or Venison either, can they eat turkey? Or is that too close to chicken?
It's spa night tonight, curious to see if the bath helps Lola's allergies more. :)

I hope Lola feels better and the new medicine works for her, long term. It's awful when they don't feel themselves and we feel so helpless.

Carolina has had some nasal congestion this season and I've narrowed it down to an outside environmental trigger. Just not sure what outside is the trigger. I just think this spring is really bad with pollens, molds, etc. Once I closed windows, bought 2, 5 phase air purifiers, rinse her eyes with eye wash and wipe the paws off every time we come in from outside she is back to normal and no more nasal congestion.

I love the new LD on both of them too. I got Carolina the cupcake mon tank too and the eyemon tee. This monster collection is so fun.

Poor Lola. Sending positive healing vibes to her. She sure looks happy and content hanging out at Leslie's boutique. Her and Moj look great in the new LD tees. It's about time LD started doing some fun things. Ava has both tees, that should arrive tomorrow. I just bought the canned version of the Wild Calling in rabbit. The dogs loved it! We've been experimenting with canned foods. I eventually want to cease kibble as a whole, and do freeze dried and wet food. Best wishes to Lola. I know she will be just fine.

Thank you! I know, it's the worst feeling!! She's had allergies for years but this year it is just awful. I wish she would eat the honest kitchen w Mimi, it's a much cleaner food but she won't eat anything that's not kibble, she runs from the bowl.
I'm happy to hear you figure out how to manage Carolina's allergies! That's awesome!! I wish I knew what triggered Lola's. I think it's food and environmental for sure bc as soon as my husband's allergies get bad, hers do too.

I love the monster collection too! Material is so light and stretchy! I hope they come out with more!! Would love to see Carolina modeling her new clothes! Did you get it yet?

Thanks girl, you know Lola is my problem dog! It's always something, tooth or allergy related. I doubt she will have any teeth left after her next dental this Friday. :(
We just got the boy tees on Friday and then the two cupcake tops from Leslie at her store. I wasn't planning on buying more stuff but I couldn't resist after seeing them in person.

How do u like feeding canned? The Honest kitchen is a similar consistency to canned but it's dehydrated raw, the only problem is its crazy expensive to feed my whole crew. Lola would really benefit from THK or raw but she won't go near it, she will literally run from her bowl like a freak. I'm going to have to soak her kibble soon, I'm afraid. We picked up the wild calling with elk, turkey, and bison, which has been a hit! Leslie gave us samples of the limited ingredient turkey and everyone liked it except Lola, figures. I'm excited to try a new kibble since we have been rotating Fromm for 4 Years now if not longer.

I'm glad you posted on here about the Wild Calling. The last canned food I tried was the Merrick and they loved it. But I just did not like the smell of that stuff lol. I have look at THK but the price is why I haven't tried it. They really loved the rabbit canned Wild Calling. Braxton is my picky eater and she dove right in and cleaned her plate. I was really happy to see that. The cans are $2.99 at Two Boston's. I think I'll buy maybe 5 cans next time I go and try them on some different flavors.
Try not to stress about Lola :-(, I know how you get stressed. As long as her spirit is still there then that's all that matters. I hope she likes her kibble wet. I tried that for mine and they didn't like it. Well Bailey will eat anything lol.
I don't blame you for buying the new LD. Way too cute to pass up. I have trouble figuring out sizing for Kendall and Bailey. Especially Kendall. She's 11.5". Bailey is only 10.5" and I think that's why he may get away with small med. Tails should have the new stuff in soon. If like to take Kendall to try it on to figure out her size once and for all. Then I quit for a while lol.

I've never tried canned before, how much do you feed? With stellas on top? Do you think canned is better than kibble?
Leslie just started carrying wild calling, she said it's been around about 2 years but she was waiting to see if it had any recalls, which it hasn't. I just found out Christie on here feeds it to her cat Huly, so I know it's gotta be one of the best.
I still hate LD sizing! These shirts ran bigger than usual, but super cute, you will love them!

So Kendall and Bailey still mostly get 1/4 cup Fromm, they're not picky and it's what they're used too. Occasionally I crumble Stella's over their Kibble. Braxton will not just eat Kibble. She's the reason I started buying Stella's. She gets a table spoon of Fromm and half a Stella's Patty twice a day. Ava gets the other half along with a tablespoon of kibble. Brax and Ava are exactly 1 lb apart in weight 3.6 and 4.6, so this portion size keeps their weight balanced and satisfies them. When I feed wet food, each of the dogs get a tablespoon each and Ava and Brax still get half a Stella's Patty. Kendall and Bailey's kibble gets reduced by about a teaspoon. I like the texture of the Wild Calling wet food. And it looks VERY FRESH! I was putting plastic wrap over the remainder of the can and my bf made the comment 'wow that canned food smells good' so I think it's a winner. I'm def gonna buy more. I don't know if it's better than kibble yet, but it can't be worse? I'm mainly doing it, because I'd like to see their teeth whiter ( Kendall and Bailey) and keep Ava's and Brax's teeth pearly white.

If those shirts ran bigger than usual, then Kendall might be in luck with the small/med. miss Ava is the only one who's a consistent size in all of the brands. Except with LD she can wear xs in certain tees, button tees, smart tes and brunch tees. All other tees, size small. LD is frustrating lol. Poor Brax is almost a complete miss. She needed to be at least 5 lbs to fit the sm/m I think. Like Elaina's Minnie.

Aww allergies and losing teeth, poor little Lola! :/ I hope this new medication will help her. She looks so sweet on all these pictures with her little dress and I love the cupcake tops on her. I love the pictures with Mojo too. They are such cuties and look so happy together.

I agree that I love the material and the fit of these tees more than a lot of the other LD tees. I think there is a set of LD tees.. ( there are 3 different sets actually ) , that are similar in material and fit to the Cupcake mon tanks. its this one louisdog ★We love vintage./MF
there is one set that I love so much but one is for a boy and one is for a girl. if you like camo... the camo tank is for a boy and the floral tank ( so pretty ) , is for a girl. I didn't buy this set cause I only wanted the floral one but I bought this set pictured for Minnie and Tootsie and its very nice.
hehe. I was so tired last night... I was going to order more cupcake mon tanks and tees for Minnie and Tootsie but I was too tired. just as well though. I 'll wait for the next sale :-)
i'll try to get a good pic of Elli in her Gucci bag soon to show you ;).
I tried Turkey and i'm pretty sure they both get more itchy with the Turkey so I really want to stick to Duck for Tootsie and Venison for Minnie. it just seems to cause much less itchies so, i'll just stick with those proteins for them ...

Thanks for the info on the canned, I may look into it one day.
I asked Leslie and she said canned is better! But she said it can be expensive too. I may need to let Lola miss a meal or two to get her on THK if she's toothless, I won't have much choice really. I'm wondering if 1 10lb box of THK could feed all 4 dogs for a month?
I think Mimi and Lola weigh about 5lbs now, give or take a bit, but I feel the small fits best in girth and the s/m for length usually.
Did you see BB came out w a size 2.5? The size 2 is too snug on the shoulders for lola, mimi, and leo but the 3 is too big naked. I ordered 3 buddy belts last week to try the size 2.5. Mojo wears a 3.5 so the half sizes may work better for chihuahuas?? Not sure if a size 2 fits Brax well?

Breaks my heart but I'd rather have her happy and toothless vs. Miserable and in pain w bad teeth. I just pray she has a few left. Just found out hubby took the day off to go w us to the appt bc I'm gonna need him for support. I always cry after her dentals when the vet gives me the report and now I'm even more sensitive w all these damn hormones! Lol.
Thank you for the sweet comments, she is such a good girl!

Really?? 😍I had no idea BB made a size 2.5. I will def look into it. Size 2 is too small for Brax and I know the 3 would be out of the question. Ava wears a size 2. But a 2.5 would be good for wearing over her winter things. Thanks for letting me know that.
I'm glad to hear that Leslie says canned is better. Today was their second day on The Wild Calling canned rabbit and they are crazy about it. I can def see how it could get expensive. I will definitely buy more of it. I just don't want to buy 3 diff things lol, Stella's, Fromm and Wild Calling. Maybe I'll try and squeeze Wild calling in as a once in while thing. I do want to get away from kibble though. I'll have to figure it out.

Honest kitchen is good if you can afford it..I can't.

I feel you on the falling apart...so is Douglas. He's so young and his little body is just failing him. Moral support from me and my little prince.

Ya they just released the news not too long ago! I remember a while back we all wrote them asking for a size 2.5 and were told no, but they changed their minds! I'm hoping it will work better for them! And then I'll sell all the size 2's I have.
I know what you mean! Mimi eats THK and the others eat Fromm w Stellas. I think their food and treats take up more room in the panty than human food!! I would like to get away from kibble too and preferably on something they all can eat. The only difficult one will be Lola, but i may try her on canned? If it smells so good? Fingers crossed.

Thank you!! I appreciate it! I feel like no matter what I do, she just has bad genes!! I'm sorry to hear about Douglas! What's going on with him?
I don't want to spend that much on food a month but I guess I can swing it if I buy less clothes and focus more on food. Sometimes THK has specials where you can buy 1 get 1 box free. And perhaps if I feed it exclusively, we will have less vet visits?

I would guess that it would end up with less vet bills in the end. It is a very clean food. If you can't afford to do it for all of your dogs, doing it just for Lola would work too. A quality canned food would be good also.

Douglas has been having a terrible year for allergies. Very itchy, chewing his feet and legs and flaking all over. He was diagnosed with epilepsy a while ago as well. To go with all that his patellas are dreadful and his trachea is collapsing, and he's allergic to chicken!

He's also missing two teeth and prone to issues. Brushing and dental chews have been able to keep it under control though. He's also so bald he has to wear sunscreen.

I just feel like he's falling apart on me sometimes. But he's such a bright, loving, happy little soul. With his meds and supplements and other management, he has a good quality of life and his symptoms are under control, but it still is hard to know he is so sick. He is a poster child of what is wrong with back yard breeders. I know he was once a beautiful red puppy someone bought on a whim, and then they hurt him and abandoned him and now he's just falling apart.

I would not trade him for the world. But I wish he did not have to suffer for some human's greed.

Oh gosh that's so sad, but at least she can still have a happy life even without teeth. I understand it must be hard to see her go through all this though! Especially with the hormones. lol It's nice that your husband is going with you. My boyfriend and I generally always go to the vet together because we both hate going alone!
