We have had some serious rain the past two nights. This morning I woke up to our street completely flooded. I added pics so you could see how flooded. Well, apparently all kinds of creatures were headed for higher ground. I went to Hardees earlier to get breakfast and saw a turtle crossing the street a bit higher than our street (pic taken but not attached). A little later I opened the door to start out to go to church and I had a bag of garbage and my purse in my hand and hubby was behind me. I screamed and slammed the door!! Mark asked me what was wrong with me?! Thank GOD for my staunch belief in ALWAYS looking down when I walk because mashed up against my door and making it's way across our deck was a snake!!!!! I think that deserves 4 exclamation points! I told Mark he probably wouldn't be able to see it from the blinds in the door, but he turned them down enough to get to see it. The door to my parent's side is about 6 foot down on the same side, so we went out that door and the snake had made it about 3 foot on down the side of the house. I took pics and attached for all of you to see. Now our cat has brought her share of 8 or 8 inch baby snakes to our door and we have had plenty of snakes in the yard, but I have to say this big thing smooth up against my door scared the crap out of me!
What scared my more is the thought of what would have happened had Lulu bounded on out the door like she's done a thousand times!!! OMG! That could have been devasting! I've had my excitement for the month.
Please excuse the mess. My mom is the outside person and she's been down with back surgery. The bucket catches her "flower water." lol You see it's full. We don't leave it though because of mosquitos.
Mark said it wasn't poisonous, but it can still kill you from the heart attack it causes. Trust me I'm not close I have the camera zoomed in.
We cannot get grass to grow on a hill across the street from a swamp.
