When you show a dog, so you have to cut the whiskers off? I remember years ago, they did, and I thought dogs needed them?

It is really up to the exhibitor as the standard doesn't say one way or the other....but most shave them off. I do as well. I've gotten so used to it they look funny to me now with whiskers

She looks beautiful! Dogs don't use their whiskers in the way that Cats do. I know this because my family used to show dogs (including cutting whiskers back) and when I was a kid, I decided to prepare our Cat for a show and cut off his whiskers. We had to keep him inside to keep him safe while they grew back - oops. Now that I don't show, I find that I really love their whiskers. Chad sometimes looks like a fur seal. Lol.
