Thanks, everyone! It's uncanny how close he resembles Trixie and Sasha. Things seem to be getting better in the acceptance area.
Trixie is just tolerating him right now... either just flat out ignoring him or pushing him around a bit. They DID have a bit of a tussle which resulted in him "yipping" in fear and running to cower behind me but it was because he unknowingly got too close to her kennel where she hid her Nylabone. But then later he went to lie down on the sofa by himself and when I next looked over, Trixie was there quietly lying down next to him. She even let him get close to Trish, which was surprising... so I think she knows he isn't a threat.
Sasha goes from being curious and playful with him to avoiding him altogether. I think because every time she lets him start to play with her, he gets a bit amorous and tries to mount her. Typical man, huh?
He REALLY wants to be included in their little group and tries to play when I toss a squeaky toy, but they just ignore him at this point. I'm sure it could be a LOT worse considering he has only been around for about 48 hours. Trixie was meaner to Sasha when we first introduced them, and now they're inseparable.
He is a total love-bug but it's becoming very obvious that he was abused.
Any quick movements around him send him cowering in fear but he is instantly ready to love again with just a kind word. EVERY time I pet him, he lies down and rolls over on his back with a big grin on his face. I'm sure it is at least partially him being VERY submissive because of his abuse, and partially because he just is a lover.
We're taking it day by day but we'll keep him for a month or so and see where we're at. He ALREADY has put on weight and is much more energetic!
