Default Jago after patella repair op *recent scar*

Hi all,
I was going to post this on the thread that has just been closed (I understand why.)
I think that we can become a bit blase about PL and other hereditary conditions if they don't affect our own Chihuahuas/dogs. This pic, I hope, shows the reality of the condition, poor little Jago was under a year old when he needed surgery.

Thankfully we saw a great vet who specialises orthopaedics and Jago is now able to get around really well, you wouldn't think he's ever had a problem. before the operation he was hobbling about on three legs
Thankfuly he was insured, the vet bill was a few pound short of 1000 and that was in 2003!

I think everyone who breeds our favourite little dogs needs to look at photo's of dogs like my Jago and strive to get this affliction eliminated.

I'm also posting this to let owners whose Chi has this, that surgery if needed can produce an amazing result. If anyone would like to know how we coped...and of course Jago coped, just ask or send me a pm

Barbara x

ps They are NOT my hands..honest.

aww his incision is kinda in a different place to Twig's hers went over the knee and she had internal stiches - she had that operation 8 months ago and now you wouldnt even know she'd had a problem its amazing how quickly they bounce back - altho an experience i wouldnt wish on any dog or owner and i feel very strongly about people who knowingly breed this on

I remember when Jago was diagnosed at about 7 months wasn't it? Hope he makes a recovery.

I know you tried your best to convince his breeder not to continue with this breeding program but she wouldn't.

I know your Jago's breeder has sold puppies under a few names!
