Oh, I know. My Coco is from a very elite pet store around here. My girlfriend (who has plenty of money) paid $1,200 for her. She decided she wasn't for her and knew I loved her from the minute she got her so she asked me if I would take her. Coco is an angel and a beautiful, nice pup who has had no health problems. She's a little taller then the standard and her ears have never lifted. They certainly jack up the cost and you never know if you're getting a healthy baby or not.

Get him! You have a reason! They could hurt him, so you take him and look after him. Or you could find him a great home where he would be safe!

Yes thanks for the article! I just hope that all pet stores do this!
I never see Chi's in pet stores and i think it just pulled on my heart strings a little.
I usually go in just to have a look as puppies are always so cute but they only ever have maltese, poodles etc so i can resist but NEVER chis. Anyway i just hope he stays safe, thanks all for your comments

oh boy do i know how you feel, how do you think i got bam? it was more like i saw him in teh window, played with him, and i just could not bear to put him back in that cage again. everyone here already knows this story, after i painfully paid the ridiculous, ridiculous price for him (although he was worth every penny and more) i luckily ended up with a beautiful and healthy chihuahua but i will never buy from a pet store again. stupid me, i still go in from time to time becuase i just cant help it! but i know how hyou feel, hard not to get attached to these little guys.

Oh, he's so adorable and fuzzy. It is heartbreaking to see them like that, isn't it? I feel your pain, which is why I only go to Petsmart and Petco nowadays. No forlorn little doggies looking at me like "buy me, buy me."

But now you've looked, and you're hooked. Like a voice on the wind, the thought blows in your ear..."buy the chi, buy the chi." :giggle:

Oh that was the thing, i was with my mum who said $1500 is a lot of money for a dog!! But if i was alone i would have handed over the cash without a second thought hehehe I just know that they're worth every penny!
My partner is in the US at the moment and i sent him that picture the other day and he called me this morning and said "please don't tell me that we have 3 running around now" and i said "not yet.... but it could be arranged" and he said "NOOOOOOOOO".

I know what you mean there. i got lucky as well with Boo. A pet store buy, and he's as healthy as a horse. Thank goodness.

I'd never buy from a petstore either though. Too many horror stories of puppy mills and pups kept in cages so long that true psychological damages evolve. :shudder:

But despite all the knowledge in the world, you're right: it's hard not to lose your heart to the little guys...especially since they're innocent in all of it all.
