Default Tritons First Raw Meat!

So I've decided to try the raw diet for my Triton, I've heard the good and the bad so I finally took the plunge after reading some of Muzby's posts (Thank you Muzby!!!)

Here are the pictures of Triton trying out a chicken thigh! He had no idea what to do with it! He mainly licked it, so I had to cut some pieces of meat off in the end! Enjoy

We made sure to keep him in a small area of the kitchen, because as bexpected he pushed it all over the cage!!

Great pictures! Did he eventually eat it? I have to grind up Brody's. He won't just eat a plain chicken wing by itself. You are lucky!

Well, he ate most of it tonight.. When he decided he was full he just stood there with the last little bit of bone and meat in his mouth and whimpered. I'm thinking he wanted me to let him out of the cage so he could hide it! haha not in my house! lol

It is a little more expensive, but if you can find good deals on things from the butcher, than it's not a huge difference. I'm just starting as of today, so I'm not sure what kinds of things I'll try him on yet.

Triton did keep giving up at first because he couldn't get anywhere with it, but once I cut off one piece, he got a good grip of it and went to town!

And the last pic he decided to pick the whole thing up in his mouth and move it further away from the side of the cage...just in case the kitties came too close! lol

I'm getting prepared for the runs tonight though, hope he transitions well. He usually does ok with strange new foods in his diet (as he likes to eat anything and everything he can find!!)

Yay Triton! He looks like he really enjoyed himself.

It CAN be pricey if you buy nothing on sale and go to expensive shops. BUT - even doing that, the money you will save on: dental bills, vet visits, flea treatments, etc will MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR IT!

At this point, we spend maybe $10/mth on four cats and a chi. We have connections, we buy in bulk, we get free meat from friends/family members/connections at butcher shops/posting ads on Craigslist asking for freezer burnt meat.
