Good luck with it! I LOVE having a potty patch, Kahlua uses it regularly. However they still need to be TRAINED to use it... a lot of people will think that because it 'looks' like grass that a dog who's used to pottying outside will automatically use it but that's not necessarily true. A dog can definitely tell the difference. To me, I see it as a more 'formal' looking pee pad and they need to be trained to use it just like they would a litter box or anything else. I just like it because yes it definitely looks nicer to have out than newspapers or pee pads, and very easy to clean.

I trained Kahlua to it by having a large enough crate that I could fit the patch in one half, and her bed/food/toys etc. on the other side. So whenever she was left alone and I was gone, her natural aversion to pottying in her bed area drove her to move to the opposite side and potty on the patch. And eventually she got so used to that being her designated potty place, she'd use it even when she wasn't crated.

Let us know how it goes Pidge. I can see Dexter was busy at the time so training will get have to wait till it's convenient for him.
