It's been really summery here. HOT weather and lots of sun. We've been taking Brody on walks every day around the neighborhood. He LOVES to go and rushes ahead on his flexi and then runs back and then rushes ahead, guess we are too slow.
Anyway, tonight I noticed it looked like he was limping. I looked at his pads, thinking maybe he stepped on a sticker, and he has a little blister on each of his pads on his front toes! OMG. Terrible!
I'm sure he got it from the hot streets. I never thought about him being 'barefoot' when we are out walking when it's hot and sunny out and how the streets would heat up. He never gave any indication at all when we were out at all.
I feel TERRIBLE!!! Like the worst mom in the world!!!
I called his vet and he said not to worry, that they would subside in a day or so and to call him if they get worse or look infected. Right now they are just like 2 little bumps on the pad on each foot. He said I could give 1/4 of a baby aspirin every 12 hours for pain/inflammation so I just gave him the first dose. Poor baby!
Anyway.... please be CAREFUL when you are out walking your pups on a hot summer day. Those streets heat up and they can burn their little feet!!!
Here's what it looks like .....
