As everyone here knows Hannah (who is 9yrs old) has been with us since January. She came to us needing a life overhaul basically. Her fears ranged from people, hard surfaces, loud noises, any kind of comotion, grooming, toys,...well basically all the things that come with being a dog. 1 by 1 my husband and I have worked with Hannah to over come her fears and learn that there is a life beyond breeding, being crated and living as a recluse with out hands on attention, toys, chewies, regular grooming and snuggle time with people. We are Hannah's 3rd home so none of this has been easy for us to teach Hannah...but as I have said before and posted with pics, Hannah is making huge strides in baby steps.
Over the last 2 months Ralph, Jasper and I have been bringing Hannah outside to sit on our swing when we have company, when our friends bring their dogs for visits and whenever we bring Jasper out for walks. Although, she was terribly nervous the 1st few times Hannah kept trying partly because she now hates being left out of anything we are doing and partly because she has learned that our yard is not a bad place (for short periods of time).
This week I am proud to say Hannah is walking down our porch stairs on her own, across the drive way and into the yard not only to go for short walks but to go potty
. We are over joyed by all if this as is Jasper who loves having his girl go for walks with him. Car rides and trips to stores are still a work in progress but for us this week has been a huge triumph for Ms Hannah and we couldn't be happier for her.
