Talking Newest addition and I have questions about color.

I have another thread in the chihuahua questions forum, but I gotta show off more pics over here. And I have more questions, lol.

Breeder says she could be a hidden merle. Her sire was a blue merle. Her mom is a very dark blue.

You can see in some pics that some of her fur is missing. She had a bad reaction to her most recent vaccine. Anyone else experience this???

What color does her nose look like to you?? Im not sure id its a really dark blue or black.

I LOVE her lil applehead.

You can see here that she has blue spots around her eye rims.

Her and Truffles. They bonded immediately.

Here is a pic of her paw pads. Reminds me of merling. Could this be a clue?? I really have no idea. The middle of her pad is whited out.

Another foot.

Enjoying the grass!!!!

She's so adorable! I'm not sure if she is a merle or not... if her sire is, there is a 50% chance that she is as well.

Do you have any young puppy pictures of her? A lot of times newborn/very young pups can show merling and it will fade out as they age.

We have a new addition, too

I believe I read in the other thread that if one of her parents is a merle - than she IS a hidden merle. I really don't know much about the hidden merle thing but it would make sense if the merle gene is more dominant the her fawn color. Anyway....I can say that at this age the pigment in their skin/nose/paws is still developing. Both her nose & paws will probably continue to change until they are black. Maxie started out with a pink nose & his was black before I got him. I remember Milo getting dark spots under his skin after we got him & he was already 18 weeks when he came to us. So chances are you will keep seeing changes & she will (probably) end up with a solid black nose & either black foot pads or at least black spots on them. However she ends up...she is GORGEOUS! Such a precious little face. And I'm glad she & Truffles have bonded nicely already.

I dont have any pics. I asked the breeder and she was in the hospital with her husband getting open heart surgery when the pups were born. Her older sons took care of the litter for 2 weeks, so no pics.

I seen Emma, shes adorable. Decided to add another girl eh?

Haha, yep. The pack keeps getting bigger and bigger. It's just so easy to add more chis since they're so small!

Exactly what she said and is a hidden merle... the nose and foot pads should cover up with time and nose to me is black in the pix. there is so much talk about the merle gene it is hard to say what is going to come out and what is dominant. Chis are unique in that sense, they have so many colors, patterns and coats.
reaction yes to shots but a lump and the fading coat I believe two things she comes from a blue parent which are known for losing hair in spots or just thin coat, so she is losing her puppy coat will grow back. she is still a pup and is changing day by day. I have been studying the chihuahuas for about 3yrs and know breeders that have been doing this for 35+yrs But still learning you can never know it all LOL..
