Default Will stack for treats...

Well, normally I'd post this in the showing section, but am curious of any general opinions people have, so...here the pics are, LOL. Please don't look at me, I look ridiculous in any I appear in, most were w/ the self timer, ha ha. I know he is too far back and not enough over his front legs, anyone have any idea how to fix this? This is not how he normally stands!!

His coat is coming in, starting at his nape of neck, which makes his topline look a lil funny too.

Here's a random free-stack I snapped, sorry its so dark:

Hand stacking,...I love his little muzzle.

His stop...

Attempting to stack him on lead (his fav time to sit down)

Stuck w/ some yucky buffalo treat in my mouth to keep his attention...

Wondering if this lead will be OK for in the ring or not? It has a tiny bit of iridescent sparkle, but I haven't found a flat white one yet, I thought that was what I was ordering here but no I guess not...

Tried stacking him on soup cans for the first time...here's what he thought...

That's all for now...we've still got lots of work to do! He starts ring craft for 7 weeks in the fall, and we just met a lady who runs an obedience school here who used to show and breed chis so she is going to help me out when she can...yay!

He looks good Kristi!! What a pretty head and profile he has.

His front needs to be under him a little more, but you can work on that. Maybe try to lure him forward with a treat so that he is leaning forward just a bit and putting his weight more squarely on his front instead of rocking horse backward. He should be trained to stand on the table and look at you without moving and without you having to keep your hands fully on him. That will come with time.

He's toeing out just a bit in the free stack pic, but I think that should correct itself as he matures and his chest drops.

I think that show lead will be fine.

You guys are doing GREAT. So proud of you!

Sometimes he'll stand just fine without my help. Then he sees the camera and STOPS LOL.

He doesn't toe out all the time, its just so rare he stays still long enough for me to grab the camera and snap. I think you're right that he will grow out of it (hopefully!).

We really are struggling to get him to put his weight over those front feet, and I don't know why its so hard. When I try to lure him forward with a treat, he sits down. If I keep a hand under his backend so he can't sit, he cinches up and makes his topline arch. So we are definitely working on it and I think with time it will come, we just need to work at it more ? I'm excited to see his coat start to come in but he sure does look funny with some spots of short fluffy hair and some that are already 1-2 inches long!

I can get him to stand stacked for 5-10 seconds now, without touching him, but his tail goes down. I really want to teach him what I want from him and work towards longer amounts of time of him doing it rather than leave him feeling unsure of what he's doing, hopefully thats ok?

He is starting to enjoy being on his little table more, which is good. He was not pleased w/ the soup cans, I thought I'd try it b'c maybe I could get him to stay over his front that way. Nope!

It was yucky...its buffalo and blueberries but it keeps his attention if he knows we have it! Oh well, hahaha.

I admire your dedication. You are doing a great job with Bryco and it shows (no pun)!
How nice that you met that lady who could possibly be a mentor for you. Maybe
someday I will be contacting you to get a CH Bryco sired puppy... Now that's an
exciting thought

You're doing a great job Kristi.

Just keep your training short and FUN. Pretend like you're having a blast, even if you aren't. ha. You want him to be excited to see that lead come out.

Remember, he's still a baby with a very short attention span. Keep everything fun and upbeat and if he's jumping around a little, or not stacked perfectly, it's OK, as long as he's wagging his tail and happy.

You aren't looking for a little robot. A judge is going to be able to see his structure, even if he's not stacking perfectly. Remember our standard calls for a saucy terrier like attitude, so if he's full of himself and forging ahead of you on the down and back or jumping around a little, that's OK in the puppy class.

Remember to keep running your hands all over him, as well as stacking. Remember to pull his lips back and get him used to having his teeth looked at. Also, reach back and feel for his testicles when stacked on the table. The judge will do that, and he should be used to it. Have both his testicles dropped?

How fun would that be? Then I could watch the pup grow up. Haha we'll see how he does...its so hard to know when they are still young. He has the best temperament of any chi I've ever met though so that definitely is going for him. I can't wait to see what his coat looks like too!

He walks SO well on lead. Its like I never even had to teach him. So honestly we haven't been beating a dead horse. Saturday mornings we go down mainstreet which is bizarre full of distractions and I have a handful of cooked ground turkey and he ignores everything and walks like a little king. It makes me so proud

I have a few friends who come over now and then and I stack him and have them go over him. He is OK w/ everything but the teeth. He's not un-ok w/ that just starts opening his mouth and trying to lick their hands. He's teething pretty bad right now so that I'm sure doesn't help him want people in his mouth. Definitely a good thing to remember working on.

Yep, both testicles have been down since he was 11 weeks. He's comfortable with them being handled and has the furriest little bean bag I've ever seen. Cracks me up. I wasn't aware that judges feel for this so that is good to know. I knew they had to check somehow just didn't think about HOW they checked LOL.

All we can do right now is keep trying. There are days when I look at him and think I'm crazy to try, other days I see a truly beautiful little dog. He is having some puppy uglies, too, so its just so hard to tell. I know at the very least I am learning a lot

Your advice is always so helpful and I really appreciate it (I know others here do too!).

I'm so excited for you.

I think you have a really nice puppy and he should do some nice winning for you. You know that when you come home from a show saying that Bryco won his first points from the puppy class... EVERYONE HERE IS GOING TO BE CHEERING FOR YOU!!!! Believe me, you will be hooked.
