Default Hello Chi Ears!

Willow's ear popped up today! Now she looks a little more chihuahua Lol! I think she looked like a little shihtzu with her floppy ears! People did not believe me she was a chi. She's 9 weeks now! Yay! And I finally have a weight on her - 3lbs 2 oz. And a TONNE of trouble! What a chewer! She chews on everything! She has been showing a small amount of timidness so I have been trying to bring her places to meet lotsa new people. She has also found her voice! Darn! I was hoping she would be one of those "non-barking" chis! Lol! She barks whenever she's nervous! Still wagging her table but her high pitched bark is rather annoying! Hope to break her of that habit but any suggestions on that are more than welcome! Oh the joys of puppy training!

Floppy Ears!

Chi Ears!

And just a few cute shots:

What a cutie! I don't have a lot of advice about the barking, as we got lucky and have one of the non-barkers. I think the reason Odie is so quiet is that when she did bark as a puppy, we basically just ignored her.

She looks so alert with her little ears perked up. Just
darling. I know that some people use a spray bottle for
incessant barking.

I think the best thing to do with the barking is just ignore it. Dogs often howl and bark to call their "pack leader." If you respond in any manner, she'll just end up thinking you're "barking" back at her, therefore reinforcing the naughty behavior.

Welcome
I used a spray bottle when mine found their 'bark'. After a week of getting sprayed they stopped
Now they only bark when someone knocks at tbe door.

You little baby is so cute!

Thanks! I will try the spray bottle for the inappropriate barking. She has learned that the yelping/howling will get her no where (most of the time), she quits after just a minute or two. It's the nervous yipping at a new person (or even my husband who she isn't overly fond of). Hopefully, she will gain some confidence with socialization and not feel so inclined to bark but I will use it when she barks inappropriately. Left her with the grandparents tonight (she was very shy of them) and she did fabulous - ended up cuddling with both of them by the end of the night.
