Since these two are inseparable, I will do them together. Chumley I got from a family trying to get rid of him outside the grocery. He's a chi mix with possibly Basenji. The family didn't speak very good English, but I guess what they didn't like was his talking. He is a very vocal dog and I think they were trying to beat the talking out of him. He is scared of everything, though he's getting much better. It took about 6 months to convince him he was allowed in the house. I usually had to go outside and herd him in. Now, he hesitates if I'm trying to get them all in the house until I turn away, then he runs in as fast as he can. If I'm not by the dog door, he goes in and out no problem. He has the loosest joints I have ever seen. Just running around the backyard his hip came out of socket. I was able to get it back in no problem. Even his front legs are loose. The vet has looked at him a few times and has no idea what's wrong. Xray came back no Leggs-Perthe disease and his hip socket looks deep enough. It has to do with his tendons is all she can think of. They are very lax. I have been giving him a lot of excercise but I don't see any improvement. He's my shy little man.
Sherman I found the first time I was walking Chumley. He was 4 months old chiweenie and very interested in two other dogs um, 'having relations', across the street. I finally grabbed him and thought I'd be able to place him as soon as he was fixed bacause he was so cute and young, but no dice. I never got even one call on him. He's now 11 months old and a true characture. He much more dachshund than chi, very stubborn, independant, fearless, and a bit of a clown. He does have a wry face, but that just adds to his charm. It always looks to me that he's smirking.
