Default "The New Girl"

"The new girl" will have to do for now until we can pick a more suitable name for her. She is deaf and blind, though she will respond to some lights. She is going to be SPAYED as she has already had multiple litters... I cannot for the life of me fathom how anyone can deliberately breed a handicap animal; then again I don't get why most millers and BYBers breed to begin with. Regardless, that chapter of her life is now over. I know she'll be a challenge but I am prepared to dedicate my time and attention to her; which is why I've officially "temporarily resigned" from fostering until next year at least. I have to ensure that all my current furkids' needs are met as they are family and priority; and keeping this new lady's environment stable is going to be key. I'm still planning to help with transport whenever able; but for now, helping this gal adjust is my fall project. I know there will be struggles as well as successes but if I can learn ANYTHING from what she experienced, it is not to give up; and I will not give up on her. So without further adeiu, here she is. No name yet, leaning toward Willow or Luna; but I know it must be dignified and special as she is. I hope to get better photos soon as she settles in.

Thanks so much for looking!

She's so pretty! I can't believe people bred a dog that they knew was deaf and blind. That is disgusting. She is lucky to have found you!!!

She's beautiful. I'm sure you will figure out a way to make her life much more happy for her. Thank you for rescuing her. Does she have any eyes or are they just blue? It's hard to tell.

Thanks you two!
Unfortunately she has Ocular Dysgenesis (caused by the double merle gene...) so even if her eyes are present they are very malformed as both are fully affected. They are just pink, and very small.

This post made me cry. Breeding her shows not heart, almost animal cruelty in my opinion. I am glad you took her in, she deserves some loving!

The whole double merle thing makes me so cross. People can be so stupid and selfish.
She looks really healthy though, apart from being blind and deaf obviously! Does she have any other physical issues? Thank you for taking her, I will try and think of some special names for her.

I am so glad you found her! I can't believe someone was breeding her, poor girl. I think Willow is a good name for her

All because some selfish, rotten, narrow-minded humans wanted something "different" they think they're entitled to screw with nature - it proved a disaster on all counts, but they pushed on regardless because people like the look WTF does this stupidity & ignorancce come from - when were merles first intro'd, 1940's or something wasn't it? The original infiltrator breeders should all be very, very ashamed of themselves if they're still alive, and those who're still perpetuating it today should be banned from keeping animals full stop, not even a goldfish for them!

Good for you for being there for this poor angel.
