Default Photo dump! Micha & Luca <3

I really, really dislike pics with me in them. But it was so cute, I wanted to show how she was laying without my boob being the center of attraction, lol.

Poor Luca had to take a bath! He looks SO different when he's all wet

Is all that fur normal for a Chi? This was before his bath. He looks like a sheep dog or something, lol

Pretty boy's close up..

Micha

She just adores the sofa pillows.

For the fur do you brush a lot? Looks like loose undercoat to me from the photo. A trip to a professional groomer (Who actually does a good job..some of them aren't the best of course) will get rid of all that extra nasty hair. If ignored it can cause itching and discomfort along with mats and will collect/cause dandruff and matting can cause fungal infections of the skin. Believe me, now it is not a problem...fix it before it is one. I've seen the mess and pain and misery and suffering that ignoring skin and coat trouble causes and it's not worth it.

Start brushing often and maybe invest in an undercoat rake. It will help catch that and get it free without hurting (always be careful to not touch the skin with any brush). If you can't get it out then talk to a groomer. They will be able to help.

Oops I forgot. Lovely babies as always!

Thank you! I'm getting an undercoat brush tomorrow. I couldn't get one yet, so I ended up buying an $8 flea brush, and that gets alot of loose fur out, but I don't think it would be nearly as much as an undercoat brush would. I washed him nice and throughly, and used a hair dryer (it's one you change the temp. settings) and I've brushed him twice a day since we've gotten him. He's had a belly band on almost his whole life, and I want to get that fur healthy again. Do you have any tips on that, or is it permanant damage?
It doesn't matter if I can fix it, I don't really mind it, he's my handsome little love bug anyway ^,^
But I still want him to have a nice healthy coat.

Edit: Oh, I forgot, It's not matted at all, and brushes easily. It's just so thick! I have one of the wire brushes for shedding, but I hate using it, it's so hard to keep it off the skin

The wire brushes are called slicker brushes and they are good for daily brushing...just do be careful, brush burn is no fun.

Another thing that is great is a fine tooth metal comb. We often say if you can get a fine tooth comb through it without hair and it goes through smooth then the dog is ready to go home after being groomed.

If the hair is just discolored you may not be able to. However when he blows his coat it could grow back nice. If not, and you really want to try, you could shave the area. There is the potential of course for it to grow back strangely and it is very hard to predict, so I'd recommend just leaving it alone, feed a good diet, and see if it solves itself. If it has been rubbed then it will grow back with time.

Your babies are so beautiful! As far as all the hair pics,at one time Missy had a bad skin infection, and had lost almost all of her hair. Now she is starting to look like a pom she has so much, lol.I love it though! She still has to grow back all of her ear fringe and tail hair.Cant wait!
