Default Hair Loss Pics

Here are some pic of Ruffio's hair loss. We have had 3 skin scrapes done. The first one done at a vet i dont normally go to, and was told he had demodex mange and was given promeris to treat it. 2nd and 3rd skin scrape done at normally vet came back negative, but given meds to treat as though he did have it. Not giving him meds for something he doesnt have. But it is getting worse. I dont know what it is or what to do. I am seeing a holistic vet at the end or march. But im posting these pics hoping someone else has had to deal with this and can offer some advice.

What are you feeding? Do you give any supplements?
As for the meds, you have them but decided not to use, correct?
What meds did your regular vet give you?

I had a black short coat chi before and he looked just like that! My vet said it was normal for black chi's, but I'm not sure how true that is?

That kind of looks like Angel, with the fur. I call them bald spots. Angels dont really seem to be getting worse, though.

I hope the holistic vet can come up with a solution.

They are not all like that. There are a lot of reasons for alopecia, from
parasites/mange, to allergies, to stress, to sometimes genetics unfortunately.

I feed Ziwipeak and raw. I recently started giving a probiotic as directed by the lady who made my appointment with the holistic vet.

When first told that he had demodex, I gave promeris ( a flea and tick topical liquid) every 2 weeks. Then and second vet, the 2nd skin scrape I was told no mites were found and that the promeris must have worked. Then it started to get worse, 3rd skin scrape I was told by the vet she found 2 dead mites but it was only half of the dead mite body. She gave me Ivermectin to give everyday. I gave for a week and decided not to give anymore, because I just didnt feel right giving him meds for something they basically told me he does not have.

I have made a appt with a holistic vet, but she is soo far booked that I couldnt get in till march 26th.

He show not sign that it bothers him, no scratching or itching...so I dunno if it is mange, or some kind of genetic defect.

In Dexter's case, he has documented thyroid issues so his is explainable and could be treatable.

I agree with LS. It can be so many things. Good for you for following up and with a Holistic Vet.

Do you know your baby's genetics? Sire and Dam colors?

Ruby has some alopecia on her belly, chest and inner legs. No mange/parasites, no thyroid nor other blood issues. Her Dam is blue so hers in genetic.

Great that you will hopefully get some answers and some steps that you can take to help.

That is sure one sweet face!!
