after much thought last night i decided against the super tiny super cute black white and tan male. i put ALOT of thought into what its going to be like bringing a second chi in.
so i whent through a list of pros and cons of getting the uber tiny one. hed be tiny and from the looks of his pics a beautiful exaple of the breed, perfect for showing and even breeding at only 3-3.5lb...
but at such a tiny size i think hed be way to tiny (especialy at first) to handle vixe and her rough play (she plays with a 30lb cockerspaniel regularly so shes gonna have no clue how to be genlte with a tiny tiny 8week old baby when all she wants to do is play. perhapd her motherly instinct would kick in, but i want her to be able to have a frined she can let loose and run wild with
It also bothered me a little that the breeder didnt realy ask me anything about myself, the home hed be going to, if i had experience with the breed, nothing like that...
so i also got an email from another breeder, i never rule out options till im certain.
well the pic she sent me isnt the best of quality, and shows a slightly larger pup...a 4month old pup.
now as you all know when i found and fell for vixie she was 6months old and the puppy that people had passed over.
well this little man looks ALOT like vixie, hes 4 months and going through the puppy uglies as we call it his fluffy puppy hair has thinned and hes starting to get his adult coat thoguh but in that stage where it just looks messy, and people have passed him over.
he too is a red sable...(i think im just naturally drawn to reds...kind of wanted a different colour this time but this is what i end up with
the breeder has asked me all sorts of questions and made it very clear that these are her babies and she worries about them, so after lots of reassurance and talking back and forth (i think 18 emailes in a space of 12 hrs is quite a lot
weve worked most of the details.
of course the biggest bump was my dad (i still live with my parents so they have final say, my dads never big fan of adding another pet to the family, and hes constantly telling me no more dogs...so if he said no this would all be off
so i showed him pics of the tiny boy and then pics of this red man, and he loves the red man, even telling me that hes gonna keep him when i move out (least it means hes not gonna try and keep vixie
so with dads absolute aproval...im getting the red guy...
heres a few pics for ya'll...the ones with the very dark sable are him before he started losing the puppyfluff (which vixie did the same thing, yeah she had that much sabling too) the lighter reds are a little more reacent.
hes currently weighing in with an est adult weight of 4lbs vixie is 5lbs so i think thats not too much of a size difference. that ill have to worry about vixie being too overpowering. and with him being a little older he'll have a little more energy (rather than the puppy eat and sleep times) to put up with vixies energy...
and with him being 4 months old...it means i dont have to do that patients thing...looks like hell be comming home this saturday if we can arrange everything and get him rechecked by the vet by then (to ship him he has to visit the vet where hell get his rabies, a fecal and tartworm test aas well as a full physical to make sure hes healthy enough to fly...if all that goes well, vixie will have her new frined by saturday night/sunday morning
