Default iPhone Photo Help .... gaarrrrgh

Hi girls & guys,

Can someone plz tell me how the heck to take half decent shots with an iPhone 5. Heck, I'd be happy with quarter decent shots compared to what I'm getting.

I just took 178 photos and NONE of them were not blurry.

I don't understand the grid setting thingie, and surely to god there's got to be a way to focus this darn camera? In fact, I don't understand any of the settings or even if there are any, apart from the "auto" (flash) or grid - apart from those it appears to be devoid of any useful features, unless they're hidden from a dumb-butt like me.

Is there a way to zoom in & out that I'm missing?

I'm soooo depressed, there were some beautiful shots in perfect light and every last one of them was woeful.

Throw your tips into the ring plz, especially you Miss Pidge, you're the photo guru!!!

I had problems like that Dee with my Android phones. Luckily the Iphone works pretty well for me but I usually shoot 20 shots and 1 of them come out okay. So I have gotten in the habit of shooting multi shots for everything. My hands shake a lot normally though so holding the phone still is hard sometimes.

To zoom in you pinch your fingers together on the screen. At the bottom of the screen you will see a bar with - and +. Move the scroll bar to the point that you want it zoomed into.

I actually find pictures zoomed in a little grainy so perhaps someone else has a tip for that.

I tried another camera application yesterday that was supposed to make pictures better with the Iphone but honestly I did not see any difference. I have heard great stories of different camera for Iphone but I have yet to find one that I get better quality from but I am sure there has to be one out there.

Good luck! I hope you get it figured out.

I know this doesn't help you, but I have had my smartphone for a little over a year and just learned by accident the other day you can zoom in and out to take a pic. The phone may be smart, but the operator isn't.lol

Zoom in and out with your fingers on the screen. Or there is a slide bar that zooms in and out.

Dee, when you try to focus on something, touch the target on the sceen to focus. Like for example, if trying to take a pic of your chi, touch the chi on the screen and the camera should focus on the chi. That's how I focus on my camera phone.

Amy Jo is right about zooming, it gets grainy. I usually try to get close as I can without zooming.

The girls have given great advice. I always use my iPhone for the pics I take of the dogs but you have to keep the phone and the dog really still! I take a billion shots to get one good one because by the time it takes the picture the dog has moved. They work best in natural light and as Amy says I'd stay away from the zoom. The grid is there just to make sure you line things up straight so I ignore that too. If you press on the thing you want to focus on a green box will come up to focus it.

If you go to iBooks you can find a free guide book for your phone which will tell you about any hidden features. Are you aware that you can also take the picture using the + volume key for example? Though I find this just makes the camera shake more but can sometimes be useful xox
