Default Food issue

I recently went on holiday for a couple of weeks and Lola stayed with my aunt. Problem being.... she got used to eating broccoli, cheese, chicken etc!! And surprise surprise now she won't eat her Royal Canin!!! My Aunt said she mixed the human food in with her kibble and she ate the lot! Well I have tried to continue this but not a chance! She will pick out all the nice food down to the last bit of grated cheese and leave her kibble!! I really don't want to feed her human food and its impossible to have her eating both as she'll either hang out for the good stuff or pick it out! I've now cut out all human food again but she has refused to eat for a day and a half now!!! Shall I just hold out and continue to give her the Royal Canin only until she realises thats all she'll get or not!! I've been told that if she's hungry she'll eat the kibble in the end! (but I feel so cruel!!)

Thanks
Lucie & Lola

hi ya, i think you should probably hold out. in saying that lillo is the fussiest eater ever! he eats a mix of everything. he wont eat only his dried food and some days is really off it and wont eat any at all. i give him a mix of meat, wet dog food and dry food. he eats a bit of everything usually so thats how i keep his diet now. he is a pain he has 3 different types of dried food down all the time, one wet food and chicken- now thats a spoilt dog! people laugh when they come over as he has 5 bowls of food!!!

Wow.....5 bowls of food! now that's spoilt!!! lol! I'll try holding out or mixing in some wet food maybe but I thought the dried food is good for their teeth as otherwise they'll have probs later on if they don't get enough 'crunching' for the tartar!? I'll see how it goes!

Thanks

Does RC make a wet food or canned food? You might try that. That would give her some variety. It could possibly be she doesn't like that type of food. I don't know much about RC.

Emmi had a problem with the food I first started her out with. I then changed to Nutro and she loves it. Nutro makes a variety of foods, soft and hard.
She will eventually realize that what food you give her is what she is to eat.
Talk to your vet about it. Make sure she is drinking too
!!!

Chis are so weird.

I agree with the mixing wet food in idea... I put about a tablespoon of canned Wellness in with Cooper's dinner (I don't free feed) every night. He loves it. It's just enough to make it "worth" eating dinner to him. LOL

You might also want to try putting a little chicken broth/stock on the food, just enough to moisten it slightly... that way, the smell will attract the dog.

Bad auntie... spoiling your chi like that. She should be ashamed.
