Think good thoughts for Lily

I don't really have any questions (yet) but I just wanted to put this in writing. Lily has had a rough few months. She's had 2 very mild seizures and she's recently been diagnosed with a heart murmur (I have no reason to think they're related and no one has suggested they might be).

Yesterday I took her for an echocardiogram at the recommendation of our vet. Lily had to stay there all day, which I knew would upset her (she's been unbelievably clingy since then, has to be touching me, not just near me. Her little paw is draped over my right arm as I'm typing  ). They're supposed to call me today with the results and I have a whole list of questions to ask. I've also read everything on this Forum related to heart murmurs, as well as checking out some canine medical websites. I still don't feel like I know anything, I guess because every situation is different and I don't yet know where Lily's murmur falls within the spectrum. I don't even know how worried I should be so, for the moment, I'm still pretty calm.

Please keep some good thoughts for my Lily. I really do think she'll be fine but just the thought of losing her is almost more than I can bear.

Think good thoughts for Lily - UPDATE

Lily's vet just called and Lily has a diastolic murmur, which apparently is pretty rare in dogs (or animals in general?). She has a Compensated Aortic Insufficiency of which endocarditis is the cause. Lots of big words there. The echocardiogram didn't show any growths on any part of her heart, which you'd expect to see with this condition - some thickening, but no growths. Lily has great energy, always has a good appetite, is never lethargic, etc., so the results are a bit confusing to them. They suggest we have some blood work done to check her white cell count and also have some x-rays taken, to establish a baseline. They'd also like to do another ultrasound in 6 months. All of that seems reasonable to me, given that I prefer a very cautious approach where Lily is concerned, so back she goes to the vet on Monday. No sense putting it off.

I am trusting in our vet and God to keep this little girl safe.

Lily and I both thank you. I knew that putting this into words would make me feel better... sort of puts it in perspective.
Also, I knew I could count on you guys to give me the lift I needed. :smilebox:

Poor Lily must think her mommy is nuts. After I got off the phone with the vet I grabbed Lily and said "You can't die! I won't let you die!" Nobody has mentioned dying so I guess I was being a bit dramatic  but it made me feel better to have a good cry. I'm okay now and ready to face life again. :)

Hi Rachael< Sometimes having a good cry, does make one feel better! :) I'm sure your Lilly will be fine and live a long healthy life. There are such good Vets out there, and she sounds as if she is in good hands. Just be positive and hang in there. :)
