I am actually registered with 5 different practices. They all have different specialties (I have other animals aside from the dogs)
So I would suggest registering with two, the one you like best and a local one for emergencies.

My vet is truly awesome - and I say that telling you that I actually left another vet for this one (long story about being dissatisfied with the other vet). My vet is close. I can drive there in literally two minutes. I could walk there in ten minutes if I had to.

A good vet is priceless, in my opinion.

You could always register at that one and the one that's more local just incase?

I would happily drive an hour or more to see a good vet i trust. My exotics specialist is about two hours away.
If the unthinkable does happen, and your pup has an accident or emergency you will want to be at the vets ASAP.
I am registered with both my local vets for this reason. I wouldn't choose them for a surgery or complicated diagnosis though.
