Default Teeth questions

So our vet convinced me when we got our Chihuahua that her breed is prone to bad teeth and we really need to brush them for her.. I probably do it 4 days a week and try hard to get them good- I do feel like I am only getting the outside good. Any tips for getting the inside of her teeth better? She constantly licks- she doesn't mind the brushing just her licking makes it hard for me to get the insides well.

Is 4 times a week enough? I worry about the tiny teeth on her bottom too- just worry that I am not getting these buggers well enough.

We do Finley and Gizmo's teeth every night at bedtime, with the exception of a night here and there where we're just too tired by that time lol. Yes, they are prone to bad teeth so yes, the more the better, but 4 days a week is probably sufficient. Use an enzymatic toothpaste, and the toothpaste itself will do a lot of the work for you. So even if you can't scrub her teeth as well as you'd like with the brush, the paste on her teeth do some of the work making it less essential to really brush. I have been told, but have yet to actually confirm with our vet, that it's really the outside of the teeth you need to worry about more than the insides...

I got Sophie when she was 4 and she had really really bad teeth. They were covered in plaque and tartar and the vet wanted me to get her a professional cleaning done but if her teeth weren't causing her pain I didn't want her to get teeth taken out... She had never had her teeth brushed before and won't let me do it. I tried many things but the thing I found to work best is this thing called Plaque Off. It is completely natural and it is a powder made of seaweed that you add to their kibble so as they chew it works like gritty sandpaper to wear away at the plaque. I noticed a difference within 2 weeks and they seemingly getting better as time goes on! I just find it is a lot easier than fighting her to let me brush her teeth and it's all natural so it doesn't do any harm
