Default Snowsuits

Question about snowsuits.

I live in Canada in the middle of the snow belt. It gets freaking COLD and snowy here! So, we need a snowsuit - all of us! There are basically two kinds:

1. The "cape" kind that mostly cover the back and a bit of the belly.
2. The "whole body" kind that have legs and arms - sort of like a onesie.

My question is about the "whole body -onesie" kind. I think this would be the warmest option but I'm curious if dogs like this kind. I can totally see putting their legs in there and them suddenly becoming paralyzed and not walking.

Does anyone have a onesie kind of snowsuit? What is your experience with it?

For the record, this is the sort I am talking about:
Reversible Snowsuit - Size 8 - RedBlue - Muttluks

I never bought a snowsuit like the one your looking at but have bought alot of the all in one kind of outfits. the main thing with them is that you get a really good fit. its not like when you buy a shirt... cause its easier to buy a shirt ... if they are alittle short or alittle long, its ok.
with the all in ones, if they are too small, your dog will be uncomfy walking. and if they are too big, they can slip out of the legs and hurt themselves.
so, its hard to find a really good fit but if you get one , its great.
and some dogs just don't like them too I think. so, it all depends.

here's some pics of my girls in there all in ones

None of mine like anything with legs. (Or hoods tbh)
Bibi, the smallest who does need clothes really, and her brother both do the 'paralyzed' thing and refuse to move if clothes are at all restrictive, even though they have worn them since they were puppies.
I concentrate on keeping their bodies nice and warm, keeping them moving, and obviously not keeping them out too long in the cold. if it is also wet (which it usually is here in the UK) I take a fresh jumper for the journey home so they aren't sitting in wet /muddy clothes. I spend half my time putting clothes on and off, the other half washing them lol

The four-legged suits can be really awkward for them (well anything for sure but I think those can really be the most difficult in cold and snow). I honestly couldn't find anything I thought would be warm enough here-I went through ebay.uk and found some solutions that I was satisfied to at least try for some minutes. It's worth a try to take a look if you can't find what you are sure of here. The coat I found is absolutely precious to me and keeps her very warm-even when in the snow.
I do have the stroller for the parks or some walks as well if the sidewalks or area is a little more clear when up north and if we are local-comes in handy when they are getting colder and ready to walk back or when the little one doesn't want to be on the ground anymore.

Hi Melissa,

I just bought this exact snowsuit for Rango. You're right--at least partially. At first he was super confused and wouldn't walk at all. It was rather funny actually. After a few minutes and some coaxing with treats, he got the hang of it. It's very well-made and insulates incredibly well. I was able to get it for pretty cheap too, and I have a discount coupon for 20% off the site where I bought it if you'd like. Feel free to PM me. Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I am going to take Dorothy to Petsmart this weekend and try on different things and see how she handles it. We hike a lot - even in the winter - so it is very important to me that she be warm as possible.

I guess we'll see how she does in the onesies I try on her.
