Default Help please?

Okay so the other day I posted about Gizmo having allergies. I was wandering if anyone knew is there a way to tell if it's food allergies or just regular allergies? I am currently transitioning him to blur buffalo grain free from Purina puppy chow. He is always itching his neck, flaky skin, sneezing very faintly more like a huff, he constantly licks and chews his feet and paws at his face.

It's most likely to be food allergies, but you'd have to get him tested to know for sure exactly what it is.

On a side note, since you were asking about food choices in your other thread...Blue Buffalo isn't a great choice if you have others available to you. Better than Purina, but only by a notch or two. Just thought I would mention it since you were interested in food choices previously

Thank you I went to the pet store that had a lot of different foods but not the ones I was looking for I thought blue buffalo was good? :/ I read a lot about it I did see a lot of negatives and positives on reviews but most of the food I seen was like that. Hmm I have been switching him for the past two days now he I think maybe I should wait and see how it works with him?

Do you have an independent pet store near you? One that is not a chain? They are usually very willing to special order a food for you, and you can usually return it if it doesn't work out. If you don't know if you have one, go to the website of a food you want to try and use their store locator tool.

Blue Buffalo admits to bullshitting consumers, lawsuit with Purina heats up - Poisoned Pets | A look inside the pet food industry

Something to think about. Like I said - it is better than Purina, theoretically, but not much and they've been in the news a lot for misrepresenting their product, etc.

Are you shopping at a local store or a box store? Just wondering what else they carry so we can try to pick out the best option Do you remember any of the other brands they carried?

These are 10 really excellent dog foods: Origen, Acana, Eagle Pack, Fromm, Natures Logic, Stella and Chewies, Wysong,Pinnacle,Primal, and HiTech Naturals. Any of them are for 'all life stages" so puppies could eat them.

Blue wilderness is 5 star according to dogfoodadvisor.com if you want to use Blue Buffalo. I rotate between that, Merrick Backcountry and Nature's Variety Raw Instint Boost.

The issue with dog food advisor is that they only look at the label on the bag. Ingredient sourcing is another big consideration. BB has not only lied but has been involved in recalls, including the huge Menu foods recall about 7 years ago. That means they were sourcing grain fractions from China. Many dogs do very well on the food, and we all have different priorities and needs when choosing food for our dogs. Just putting the info out there. I do not judge, but try to educate!
