Default Pet Steps for a 29 inch high bed

Hello,

I have a 29inch tall bed and would like to allow Chloe to sleep with me at night, but haven't yet as I am afraid of her getting hurt trying to get off of the bed in the middle of the night. She has took a nap with me on the bed and stayed put, but the nap lasted no more than 2 hours. I have been looking for either a ramp or some stairs to place by my bed, but I am having a hard time trying to find something that is tall enough. However I have found one set of stairs that may work and before I go ordering I wanted to see if I could get some input from you all. Here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...te%2Caps%2C667

I apologize if they have already been discussed on here, I have tried to look before hand but haven't been able to find anything on here so far.

Thanks in advanced for your input!

I have a chihuahua that has a set of plastic steps (3) covered with a fleece like material. I put it next to an alpolstered foldable chair which she jumps up to. It is a 3 jump to get to the bed. 1. Jump up the 3 step . 2. Jump up to the chair. 3. jump from chair to the bed. She is 8 years old and loves to nap with me! The other chis don't seem to care. They use the 3 step doggie steps (at Walgreens for $20.00 or so) to get to their chairs.

Another thing to consider is that the taller steps on that list are taller than your bed, while the ones that are 23" high are 6" shorter than your bed. Since the steps are 6" high, that would leave one step worth of height from the top step to your bed. The shorter steps might be easier to move, and they would take up less space if that is a concern for you. I have no direct experience with models currently on the market, unfortunately. Pet Edge used to have some really nice wooden ones that you could use as a ramp or steps, but I don't think they offer them anymore. I will double-check, though.

Edit: they do still have them, but they are not tall enough for what you need. https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US

Thanks again for your input!

Susan Davis, nice idea, but unfortunately my bedroom isn't big enough to have a chair in it.
Melodyoftheforest, I wasn't thinking about the fact that my bed would only be 6" taller than a 23" high set of steps. Thank you for pointing that out for me! The steps/ramp combo that you have look great and will definitely keep something like that in mind for in the future as I am going to be getting me a new bed before the year is over. I will be giving my 13 year old daughter the bed that I have now as she is wanting it and so any steps that I get now would still be used.

I have decided not to get the other steps, but instead am looking at some just like them with the exception of having only three steps and are shorter. Here is the link:

You're welcome! Those look like they will do the job and save you some money over the bigger ones too!

We had to make ours. It was pretty easy. We just took MDF board and cut out two pieces that looked like the sides of stairs. Then we cut rectangle pieces of MDF and used them as the treads. We just glued and screwed it all together and then put a coat of paint on it. You could carpet the treads, too, if you wanted. The whole thing cost us about $20 and an hour of work. The best part is we could make it as high as we wanted.

I have thought about that, but I don't have the tools and the closest person that could help me is my dad and he lives 3 1/2 hours away. I would also like to get something sooner rather than later.

I have a Solvit X-Large Deluxe Telescoping Pet Ramp on one side of my bed (between a wall and the bed)... both Peso and Kody use this at night...without issues and I have nightlights in the room too.... the ramp is set on a box for the correct height and stability.... they love it and a ramp is easier on their little knees than steps...
