Default Chihuahua weight?

Koko is 2 years and 10 months old. We took him to the vet for a check up and he weigh 7 lbs. I was wondering what other Chihuahuas at this age weigh.

Koko is a little bit larger than the '6 pound' chihuahua. He is just bigger. Chi's can range from the tiniest 2 pound, to the larger 10+ pounds and still be "AKC" bred. Just is OK unless Koko is overweight, and or too thin.

Jazz is 7 and Tango is 9 years old. Jazz weighs 3.5 pounds and Tango 4.0 and have been around that weight since they were about 2.

5 year old Manny is a 9 pounder, and Little Lola has climbed up into the 1 1/2 pound range. Her parents were smaller so I'm estimating she will top out around the 5 pound range or so.

If you are not showing your dog, it's not so much what they weigh as their body condition that matters. Chihuahuas can weigh anywhere from 2-15 lbs. size actually does not breed true in chihuahuas. 15lb dogs can have 3 lb pups and vice versa. As long as your dog looks healthy, has a visible waist and has ribs that can just be felt when petting the dog, with no hip points showing unless the dog is very young, you are just OK. all three of mine hover between 6.5 and 8lbs. They are larger examples of the breed. We used to joke that half of foxxy's weight was fur, but she really was a very solid dog, stockier and well muscled.

we don't pick up our dogs much unless we are ourselves being lazy, and they have to climb 3 flights of stairs just to go potty, so they stay very trim. But they're still about 7lbs give or take a few ounces

This is so true. Case in point - Dorothy was a very skinny 5lbs on the dot when we got her. You could see every vertebra and her pin bones. She was unhealthy skinny from being deprived food. While she weighed less she looked terrible.

But now she's at a healthy weight she is about 6 pounds (maybe even a few ounces over now!). But she looks really good.
