Default When will he stop....

peeing on himself when doing his business outside?! Ugh.. its horrible. We go for walks outside and Hunley knows what he should do, but manages always to pee on himself. I notice that as he pees, (he does lift his leg) at some point I guess he gets lazy and lowers his leg. Or decides he has to sniff what is coming out of him which makes his body sort of curl in a bit and then pees all over his front legs and feet.

What can I do to either help him keep his lifted leg high up or retrain him to squat? Sometimes when he squats he still pees on his feet or even his belly. If he doesn't get a bath, which he hates, then he stinks like stale pee. Worse, is when coming in for walks he wants snuggle time and I need to wipe him down with baby wipes. He is just over a year so in the back of my mind i keep saying he is still a baby. please tell me there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

LOL! You think that's bad?? We have three dogs who all manage to pee on each other's head when we take them for a walk! All three just HAVE to sniff at the same spot at the same time, so one will mark it and the other will be sniffing and they're always getting peed on. It's ridiculous.

Sorry, I can't really help, other than the peeing on each other's head because they can't be bothered to wait for a sibling to move out of the way, I haven't really had this issue with my boys. They sometimes manage to pee on their front feet a bit depending on their stance at the time...

Does he have LP or arthritis? I noticed that our guest chi couldn't stand on 3 feet for long enough to get the job done. Now that his arthritis has responded to treatment, he can hold a tripod long enough to finish up. On the peeing on each other. We have that problem, too. Don't think there's any solution for that. LOL

LOL thank you for letting me know that Im not alone in this. LP or arthritis, don't think so as he is only just over a year old. think he is just lazy. yes next dog will be a girl.. enough with this leg lifting and peeing everywhere. He will just have to get used to getting baths.. although im glad he is not peeing on his own head!!!!

LOL. Don't be too sure. Piper (female) lifts a leg and loves to 'mark' everything on our walks. Thank goodness she doesn't mark in the house.

Tink does too, and Shadow always did as well (female we had previously).
