Default Barking when company is over

When we have people over Jojo will constantly bark. He doesn't even see them but when he hears them it sets him off. He's in my room in his crate.
It's like he obviously knows when he hears "new" people's voices. He knows the 4 (living in the home) of us very well. As in it could be just us making a lot of noise and he'll sleep through it the entire time.
When it first started I would give him a chew treat.
But today in the morning I gave him a Greenie plus training treats and he's barking now and I don't feel comfortable giving him another chew treat.
Why is he doing it and is there another way to go about it other than constant treats?
I just put him out as I could see he wasn't comfortable and he's barking a storm in the backyard (more than usual) And no one is back there.
He saw my cousin an 8 year old and barked at her twice. I've been noticing it's becoming more of an issue.
I'm so use to Jr and Sunshine being so well behaved with company as in the house being very loud with many noises and then being quiet even sleeping throughout the entire time.
It's a bit frustrating especially when "company" doesn't believe in dogs living inside the house, if you catch my drift.
