Default Dog barks at sounds

Sunshine has started to bark when she hears thing as simple as a sandal being thrown to the floor or the toilet seat going down (loudly) she will also bark when she hears someone say "Hey Shh!" (Not being directed to her)
She's in a room with the door closed (majority of the day) when she barks at these sounds.
I wish I could stop the noises but I cannot as 3 other people live in the same home and they sure wouldn't appreciate being told to be quiet.
I was thinking to make the sounds with her being present (like throwing a sandal in the same room she's in) but I have a feeling she'll not bark because I'll be there in the room as well. But when she hears "Hey Shh!" she will bark even if I'm in the room with her.
I don't know if I can do anything about it but she seems to be getting worse. And she also sets of Jr and I don't want him to get the same bad habit.
I can just imagine she'll be worse when we have many people over as their be noises of all sorts.
I've started to leave on the TV in my room or music hoping it'll help. But I don't if I'm doing wrong leaving those things on.

I think leaving on something that will help mask the other noises is fine. If you family is willing, I would be in the room with the dogs and treats and ask your family members to make the sounds. Since you are expecting the sounds, you should be able to get a treat to Sunshine before she starts to bark. Add a word after she looks to you instead of barking at a sound. That way you can fade out the treats and have a word she knows means she is safe. For example, Gobo was getting a little concerned and surprised by fireworks earlier this month. When he got startled or looked worried, I would say "boom-booms!" in a happy, excited voice and give him a treat. Very shortly I could just say the words and he would happily focus on me. Then I would pet him or toss a toy and he forgot about the startling noise. Next I need to tackle his barking when he hears people talking outside!

I will continue to leave on the TV or music.
I will definitely try that but I don't know if she'll bark when I'm physically in the room because I know they get comfort from me being in the room.
It's been a rough month for Sunshine as we had fireworks for days and just recently thunder storms and now barking at noises. She is extremely sensitive to these noises.
I was reading online and apparently their was a dog who was afraid of thunder storms and then became afraid of normal household noises. I'm hoping Sunshine isn't becoming the same thing.

Look into a thunder shirt for her. They sell them at Pet smart. If thunder frightens her, it may very well help her. Also, If you want an alternative to the tv or music, try a noise machine for something to just hide outside noises. We just moved to an apartment complex while we are building a house and moved Lulu out of the only home she's known her entire 9 1/2 years. Talk about unfamiliar noises! If I leave her home alone, I leave the TV on and I leave my noise machine on in my bedroom.

I might consider the Thunder Shirt for her but we really don't get Thunderstorms here. I don't want to get a noise machine. But I realized that I leave the TV at a very low volume. Next time I'll leave the volume higher.
Since she's been with me she's lived in the same house for about 8 or so years. When I first got she was terrified of every thing she wouldn't get near no human or go inside the house. It did take her almost 2 years to trust me but I don't understand why she's behaving like that. It's just a bit frustrating.

the thundershirt is NOT just for thunder storms. I have used it for an extremely shy dogs when she gets upset about people coming into the home. I used it at a dog camp when she got somewhat overwhelmed with people and dogs. It did help. The other thing that might help is a 'calming cap' that looks somewhat like a mask. It helps the dog, because it cannot see what is making it upset, unless they are right in front of their nose. Made by Premier. I got mine at PetSmart.

Their wasn't much barking yesterday
I have a feeling she goes through "phases"
Sometimes when a person passes by the room (door open) she'll bark at them and other times she could care less
But I'm not sure if it's possible if a dog can go through "phases" so quickly
I will look into the Thunder Shirt. I've seen it at BigLots (not sure if their located every where) but the brand is "American Kennel Club" I wonder if it works as equal to the "real" brand.

There's a channel on Youtube called kikopup that has great training tips for this. My chis also developed a barking problem while we lived with a housemate and these techniques have been really helpful! It's basically desensitising them to the sounds they react to.
