We have a female 9 year old Chi, and just adopted a 8 week female Chi, everyone says two females was a bad idea. Advice please!

I had three female chihuahuas together with no problem. Of course, the older chi will want to be 'top' dog, and may act nasty to the puppy for a time. This is normal. Don't interfer unless the puppy is really upset/scared. In time this will decrease.

I only have 1 female and the only other "experience" I've had were I've personally known the dogs and interacted with was 2 females who lived together but hated each other. 1 was a Pit and the other was a Rottweiler mix. Their owner kept both but had to be separated at all times.
But I've heard and seen many female dogs live together with no issues.
The older pup might just be a bit more pushy/dominant.

You have people that say all sorts, but at the end of the day every dog is different so only time will tell. Some females get along, some don't. Some males get along, some don't. Just like some males and females sometimes don't get along either. I know plenty of people who have more than one female dog with no problem. Just wait and see how it goes. If problems arise then you can deal with that in time, but don't worry otherwise. It may end up totally fine.

I assume you are going to spay this puppy? If she is spayed there shouldn't be as much of a chance of aggression, as there would be otherwise.

I was in a vet's office once when a young german shepherd was brought in. This dogs mother had tried to rip out her throat! The dog was 7-8 months old and not spayed. Her mother looked on her as a 'threat' from the stud dog that lived in the house. She had to have a breathing tube put in! I was very young and didn't know that could happen. Of course this was a mother/daughter inter-action.
