Currently, I have an 8 year old man and a 3.5 year old boy. The dynamic between them is tolerable, but they aren't lovey dovey as I had hoped...
(they did get into few minor fights before but none so far after moving into a bigger apartment).
My main concern is the lack of vigor in my dogs. I had hoped that with the addition of a new pup, he would keep the old man company and keep him entertained. Unfortunately, this didn't happen and now I am left with 2 couch potatoe
s. I don't really understand because I can tell they like to play because often the two pups would initiate playtime with me (just not with each other).
My older one is getting to a point where he gets tired easily and can't keep-up with the younger boy. I am scared because as I work, I don't give them the exercise and stimulation they need. This is already visible in my younger dog as the vet said he is now 2lbs over his weight (he is currently 10lbs instead of 8lb).
I feel so guilty that I can't spend as much time with them, and really want that special bonding between dogs that I am now thinking about adding a new addition to the family. I have NEVER had 3 dogs before (and think of this a challenge) and was wondering what everything thought about this. Am I over-thinking this?
Thank you so much for reading!
