Default Has anyone's Chi had their anal sacs removed???

P-Nut is having this surgery on Thursday... it is our last option as her sacs are perpetually inflammed. I just want to see what other people's experiences may have been.... I am super nervous....

Can you get a second opinion from another vet?

I have done all I could and I did get a second opinion awhile ago... I feel like I am stuck because P-Nut is miserable 90% of the time as her flare ups are quite frequent... something has to be done and everything we have tried has failed. I do not know what to do... I had posted on this earlier and got many responses and only one was bad. I am not sure what to do....

On another forum, a vet said that "there are risks to the surgery, including permanent incontinence since you are operating around the anal muscles, and there is always a risk of permanent nerve damage."
Did your vet tell you about risks?
Make sure you go with a good vet who knows what they're doing.
Someone on that same forum said they've never seen a dog have problems after the surgery, so it sounds like risks are uncommon.

It sounds like this surgery is something that needs to be done for little P-nut. I'm sorry she's in so much pain
I'm sure she'll be fine!! Don't hesitate to ask your vet many many questions
