Default great big molt?

Oreo is coming up 10 months, she is meant to be a long hair, but she looks more like a medium! Anyway, for the last month she has been shedding hair like crazy. i read somewhere it happens twice a year. Is this true, or is it some other puppy-to-adult change?

In any case, how long should i expect it to last? I'm sneezing and look almost as hairy as she does!

Adult chis usually shed twice a year.
Poor nutrition can also cause excesive shedding. If your satisfied that your chi is being fed good food, then it's probably her normal shed.

Also, it can take up to 3 years of age for a long coat to get their normal adult coat. So Oreo still has some time to get her full adult coat.

She eats Chicken soup, plus tidbits of fruit, some organic cookies and some doggie cheese. Do you think that is ok?

Sounds like a good diet to me.
I would just brush her once a day. It's probably her normal seasonal shed.
My white chi seems to shed a little more than the other two. They are all long coats and their coats are all different.

zoey does not shed... at all ever. i have a friend who has one that does not shed either but one who does. at first i thought it was typical of a lh not to shed. i don't know how i got so lucky but zoey is 1 1/2yrs old and we never find dog hair anywhere.

Trixie doesn't shed either. Once in a while she may leave a hair on me. My grandaughter has a long coat also, and he doesn't shed. It toke Trixie close to the 3 years to get her full coat. Teenie is 2 and is still growing, but I tend to think his may be more of a medum length.

Oh my goodnes, you and Trixie's mom are very lucky! Not that I love O any the less, but the other day I came home wearing a black wool skirt. Once she'd run up to say hello, I was covered in almost as much white hair as she is - we are going so fast thru those sticky-papered clothes cleaners
