Default Itchy feet

For the life of me I can't remember what this is a sign of. Butch has been biting at his feet, like they itch. For some reason I remember - could be wrong - that this is specific. Related to what they've eaten or an airborne allergy or something.

Does anyone know what I'm thinking of? Anyone with a crystal ball or anything??

Food - Nutro Ultra. He's strictly indoors, but goes out to potty, then right back inside. We've not sprayed the yard with chemicals or fertilizer or anything, so I don't think that's it. Should I try bottled water? Maybe being so small the chemicals in the city water bother him?

Man, I know I heard something about itchy feet.....

Yeah, that would be an allergy to something ... most likely food.

You're right, it could be allergies/sensitivities to food or environment...could be due to things such as aftershaves, lotions, laundry detergent, etc. Just normal household things...or dust...or even grass itself...and there's lots more that I can't think of right now.

It certainly wouldn't hurt anything to change the water and see if that helps. And if you decide to change foods, something simple with few ingredients would be good, such as California Natural.

itchy feet is usually food or something they walk on alot, if your carpeting has wool fibers LOTS of dogs are alergic to wool, sisal is also another common allergen in dogs so a sisal rug wouldnt be very helpfull either.

if its a food allergy it could be ANYTHING.
one woman comes into our store with a frenchie, its allergic to chicken, beef, lamb, venecin and duck, corn, rice, wheat, carrots, apples, potatoe...and more...i suggested a raw diet for him and her holistic vet agreed, hes been on it for a month now (i met her before the shop opend) and the dogs doing great.
my point being it could be any ingredient in your food. try bottled water, if that doesnt help try switching to calafornia natural dry food, if that doesnt help it might be worth having an alergy pannel done.

id try rubbing a little peppermint oil into his feet, (bag balm or paw rub are good too) to help sooth the itching too!

Yoshi also chews her feet, but not because they are itchy, she just likes to ^_^ She'll be scratching her ear, and then stop when she notices her foot .... then she gives it this longing look ... and then goes right in on it, lol, it's so funny ^_^ She gets this blissful look as she nibbles on them :P She doesn't bite them hard, it looks more like a soothing thing to her. Since we're talking about biting feet, I had to share that.
