Unhappy Need Help!

My chi is 7 months old. We got him 3 months ago and he is still scared of my dad!! he is obviously wary of strangers, but that fades. But he still barks and tries to bite him. He is the most animal loving person you could meet! what could be up? or it could just be a man thing since he barks at every man?

Where your dad is concerned thats easy all dogs think with their stomach so find his very favourite treat [ours is garlic chicken] and get your dad to sit on the floor with him and give him what he loves most if this is done over a few days he will come to realise dad is his favourite person. Where other men are concerned not so easy and socialisation with lots of men is the only answer as fear is not an easy thing to overcome for a little dog its really down to you to let him know men aren't really that scary. Good Luck x x

Our big dog is especially wary of men. She's fine when she has time to warm up, but she wouldn't let a stranger pet her. With your Dad, I agree w/ mad dog woman. Let your dad do some one on one socializing. Don't console your chi when he acts scared, it makes him think that is OK. Good Luck!
