Hi everyone,
Getting my new chihuahua in a couple of weeks. My breeder has her dogs on Diamond food...I'm going to use Diamond Natural. Anyone use this product and what are your opinions? Thanks.

I am SO excited! What are the best brands for chihuahuas? There is a breeder around here that says DO NOT feed royal canin for chihuahuas. I've noticed that some people talk about food ratings. Where would I find that info. My vet prefers "grain free" food. I also plan to make a mixture of chicken or turkey, brown rice, barley and mixed veggies that you grind together and mix with their food. Thanks for everybody's help. I can't wait but I'm also a little nervous because I've never had a dog that tiny...should be 3-3.5lbs. as an adult.

I Have used Diamond Large Breed adult 60+ lbs for my Great Danes in the past. Thankfully it was does not have corn in it like the others so it was not one that was recalled. I have never heard of the Diamond Naturals though?

i think everyone has their own opinion regarding the different dog foods. maybe her chis didn't do well on it so that's why she said that :dontknow:
Congratulations! I wan't to get a female, but it will be a while. :)

I just wanted to say that there will be as many different opinions as there are dogfoods on the market. The ultimate decision will be yours. I am curious as to why the breeder said no RC. I'm glad you are concerned and doing your research.

We used diamond naturals in the past. The beef and rice formula, it's a decent quality food without the corn in it. We had a dog with a sensetive stomach and she did great on it. I personally don't like RC either, i think for the amount of corn that is in it it is overpriced. That being said, it is everyones preference to what food they give and what works for thier dog. Diamond makes a line called chicken soup for the dog lovers soul that is great quality, you might want to check it out. congrats on the new pup hope to see pics when she/he comes home :).
