How long do you leave your babies home alone?

I was wondering how long you all leave your babies home alone? Ours pretty much have free run of the house, I close most doors, they use puppy pads. I have never left mine for more than 3 hours, I feel so guilty. I am always watching the time when I run errands or go to dinner.

Wow - now I feel guilty for having a job!! My babies are alone from 11.30am til 4pm each day luckily my fiance and I are on different shifts so it works out. I don't feel this is a long time really, especially as they have each other. And there are no pens or cages, they get the run of the kitchen which is huge

I work 3 days a week and Zoey is home alone for 6 to 8 hours when I work. She has run of the down stairs with her pee pads and toys and food/water. I think she spends alot of her time sleeping in her kennel. We play for hours at night chasing the balls.

Misty is on her own from about 9.00 4.30pm mon-fri and she too has the run of the flat, water in every room and pee pads and toys. My lovely building manager pops in on her twice a day and reports back to me and we also play with her like mad when we get in and she also has the roof terrace to run around on outside too. Misty just seems to sleep all day....ive just spent 5 days with her and she sleapt most of that!

My husband even turns the phone down so shes not disturbed and in the winter months we leave lights on for her!

Well, our crew are home alone up to eight hours on weekdays...and sometimes that on Saturdays...between work and errands...they do fine, have the run of approx. 1000 square feet between the kitchen, big den and their room. They play and mostly sleep.

I think my dogs are really lucky in that they are rarely left alone, but appreciate if I had to go back to work (or chose to) then they would spend a little longer alone.

When nursing I worked shifts and when doing agency picked my hours to suit my dogs! I hated working nights, but did it as the dogs were happier!

tonight we had errands to run and stuff so Beau was hom ealone for the first time since we got him last weekend. we were gone 2 hours and I put him in the bathroom with some peepads and his bed and water and food. well when we got back as soon as he heard us he went NUTS whining and squeeking. we let him out and he was going CRAZY and kept whining over and over for like 10 min unless we were holding him or down on the floor by him! :( I was so worried while we were gone and hubby was laughing at me.
I REALLY hope that gets better, he wont have to be left home alone much maybe a few hours once a week or so but I felt like we traumatized him! I think this is the first time he has ever been left alone (I know at the breeders there was many times no people were home but there was his littermates and several other dogs there). I want him to be used to being alone some so he doesnt develope major seperation anxiety issues. should I put him in the bathroom alone like 10 min every other day or so to help him get used to it so when we do have a leave for a few hours he doesnt flip? I just picture him whining and flipping otu the whole time we were gone!

Years ago, I ONCE had to leave my previous dogs (not Chi's) for 12 hours while I did a night shift at a nursing home. I was worried sick, even though they had the run of the house. When I returned in the morning, they mustn't have heard me approach as they were just coming down from the bedroom, where doubtless they had been asleep all night
