bedtime issues

we've been coming home from work, letting madison out of her pen, and playing hard with her through the evening (minus her one nap she still takes from about 7-9). Ideally, i would like to be in bed around 11, and i'm sure my husband would be, as well.

As it is, though, one of us (usually him) is staying up and playing with her until she is ready for bed - last night it was after 1am and she was up again at 7:30 ready to play. (Granted, yesterday was a different day - in her pen longer during the day, then had a vet visit and took a nap from about 5-630, then 8-9)

So my question is this - do we stay up with her and wait it out, or when we're tired, do we just put her back in her bed and tell her it's time for bed?!?! We sure enjoy her more when we're not both exhausted!

i think i would put her in her crate at bedtime and tell her that its time for bed. i used to do this with lucy till like a couple days ago, she would whine a little bit in her crate but just give up and go to bed, which worked out nicely. you want her to do things on your terms, not on hers. good luck!

i just thought about this some more haha i think by you playing with her until she is tired, she is controlling playtime/bedtime by her own will - you need to show her that you control her playtime and bedtime. i'm trying my best to do this too, sometimes she falls asleep before im ready and i'm like hey! i wanna play! haha but you'll be fine, madison is such a cutie!

thanks. she's super curious and always right here by me or my husband when we're home. right now she's watching me type this.

tomorrow is the first time i'll spend all day alone with her. my dh is going to his parents for a few hours and we don't think madison is probably ready for 4 hours in the car - 2 there and 2 back.

i hope she takes a few naps :)
