Default Marking behavior and not even 2 ˝ months old

Hi!

A few days ago I saw Oskar, my puppy, lifting his leg to pee a stair for the first time, and he was not even 2 ˝ months old. Also saw him peeing on his pee pad trying to lift his leg. At the end he was not able to, but he tried!
What does that mean?
It means he has a dominant personality? (He also tries to hump a male litter mate every time we meet)
It is normal?
I must mention that I’m staying at my boyfriend’s house and He has a German shepherd dog. Maybe because there is another dog in the house my puppy is trying to mark . Also I must say that the older dog does not mark inside the house.
I was thinking about neuter him at 6mo old…but if he is already marking, does that mean I have less chances to eliminate the behavior? I already know that the behavior can be shown even if a dog is neutered. But also I read that dogs neutered at 6mo old have less chances to EVER show marking behavior. What concerns me is that in such early age he is already showing the behavior.

I was thinking to neuter him because I do not want to breed him (I think he may not be pure breed and he doesn’t have pedigree or similar papers, and I am not willing to be a backyard breeder or anything like that) and for the other benefits it may have, but majorly for the marking thing. But if I was not sure, now I have even more doubts.

Thank you in advance for your opinions and help

PD: excuse my bad English, it is not my first language.

Are you sure he hasn't been watching the older dog and is copying it ?It does seem rather young to be a dominent behaviour thing,it is still a baby

yes , sounds like he's seen this done before

Well if you fix him at 6month it will stop him from doing it , i'd say use a spray bottle every time you see him lift his leg spray him when you see him pee like a nice little boy should then praise him

lol now if i could only follow i own advise about jamoka marking LLS!

I'm completly sure that the GSD doesn't mark because he can't lift his leg due to hip dysplasia
Maybe he saw his father doing it when he was smaller o.O
So even if he already is showing the behavior i still have chances if i neuter him to make it stop?

Well at least i have not see him marking againg...

Thank you for your advices!
